Room with a view but limited options

My wife and I spent a day in Room 2, which features a private balcony. We booked it on a half-board (HB) plan for 24K. Food: The food was okay but not customizable. Since my wife is vegetarian, we had to ask for some changes. After a bit of back and forth, the staff provided a vegetarian rice dish for dinner, but unfortunately, the breakfast menu couldn’t be modified. As a result, she ended up with just bread and butter, which was disappointing. Place: The view can be breathtaking if the weather cooperates. However, most of the time, mist obscures the mountains, and you might only catch a glimpse of the lake. The rooms are cozy, and the bathroom has hot water. There are privacy concerns, particularly with rooms close to the reception area. On the plus side, there is parking available. Overall, while the place has potential, my experience makes me question whether it was worth the 24,000. In my opinion, it wasn’t.

Great views, practical overnight stay

This place is straightforward and budget-friendly, perfect for our one-night stay before hiking Adam’s Peak. It served well as a practical base for that purpose. The room was decent for the price, clean enough and equipped for a short visit, though it was a bit noisy since it was right next to the reception area. The true standout here is the location: the surrounding landscape is stunning, offering beautiful views of the hills, especially from the terrace, which even looked amazing in drone photos. Given the low cost and the fantastic views, it provides good value if you primarily need a place to rest overnight with lovely scenery rather than complete comfort and tranquility.

Comfortable villa with stunning views

I’ll do my best to provide a balanced review to help you decide! 1. The villa has about 6-7 rooms, accommodating 18-22 guests comfortably. There’s ample space, beds, chairs, and washrooms, allowing everyone to move around without feeling cramped. 2. For entertainment, there’s a Carrom board and a table tennis table. Plus, you might stumble upon a pack of cards somewhere in the villa. 3. The highlight of this villa is definitely the view. You can enjoy a lovely sight of the Maussakelle reservoir and the surrounding mountains. If you’re fortunate, you might even catch a glimpse of Adam’s Peak from the balcony. 4. The rooms are spacious and clean, each featuring an attached bathroom with hot water. The bathrooms are also quite roomy, though I feel the photos in their listing might be a bit misleading. 5. The property is well-kept, and everything is tidy. Ishara has been an excellent hostess, doing a great job. 6. The food is quite tasty! You can choose from the à la carte menu or provide your own menu and ask them to prepare it for you, which is what we did. We brought half of the groceries from Colombo and asked Ishara to purchase the rest (vegetables and meats) locally. They prepared our meals perfectly. 7. There’s not much else to do beyond the board games. The viewpoints are somewhat distant, and given the road conditions, getting around takes some effort. 8. We paid 150k for the entire villa for two nights for eight people. Food costs were separate, totaling 10k for cooking and 2.5k for the BBQ machine. Additionally, we were charged 5.3k for tea and coffee for both days. The overall cost feels a bit steep, and the value for money is lacking since the main activity is enjoying the view from the balcony. 9. The groceries and vegetables purchased for us were somewhat expensive, and we received a handwritten bill detailing all the items. 10. The upstairs has wooden flooring, which tends to be quite noisy when walked on, and sounds from the upstairs bedrooms can be easily heard in the downstairs bedrooms. So, it’s wise to be a bit cautious! 11. There’s enough parking for two cars. The villa is located on the roadside, making parking in front less ideal. However, there are two safer parking spaces on the side of the villa. Overall, I had a great stay! We created wonderful memories and enjoyed a very comfortable experience.

Fantastic stay with great views

I spent two nights here with friends, sharing two rooms, and we had a truly wonderful experience! The property is amazing; it’s very modern and offers stunning views of the reservoir and Adam's Peak. We were fortunate to have a private balcony that looked out over the reservoir, and we also enjoyed the hotel’s shared terrace which gets plenty of sunshine. This hotel is conveniently located on the main road, yet it’s quite peaceful, and it’s just a short distance from Maskeliya's shops and restaurants. It’s surrounded by tea plantations and hiking options. We were the only tourists in the area, and the locals were incredibly friendly and inquisitive, leaving a memorable impression. Both of our rooms were spacious with large king-size beds. One room had air conditioning, but the cool nights made it manageable in the other room without AC. I can see how it might be more challenging during the wetter months, especially with mosquitoes. The hosts were fantastic, assisting us in organizing a visit to a tea plantation and a short hike. There are just the two of them, and they handle everything themselves. We had breakfast and dinner on-site each day, and the food was absolutely fantastic. For breakfast, you can opt for either a western style or a Sri Lankan meal. There’s a wide variety of traditional dishes available for lunch and dinner as well. 5 stars, would definitely recommend! Calm and Clean Stay at Pekoe Lodge

I enjoyed my time at Pekoe Lodge. The atmosphere is peaceful, tidy, and boasts stunning views, particularly of the reservoir and mountains. It's an excellent choice for those looking to visit Adam’s Peak or simply unwind in the hill country. The rooms are cozy and well-kept, and the staff are welcoming and accommodating. Overall, it provides excellent value for the price. On the downside, the breakfast had a limited selection and could use some enhancements in variety.

Great budget hotel with lovely views

I chose this hotel primarily because it was within my budget and offered stunning views from the rooms. If you're heading to Maskeliya, I would definitely recommend this place. The atmosphere is serene and tranquil, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The rooms are cozy, and the beautiful scenery enhances the overall experience. Additionally, the hotel offers indoor activities like carrom and table tennis, which are perfect for passing the time. All in all, it’s a solid option for a peaceful getaway at a fair price.

Fabulous hotel with stunning views

This charming hotel is truly wonderful. I can't recommend it enough for its comfort, breathtaking views, delicious food, and great value. We were fortunate to stay in the top rooms, the king and queen rooms, which featured a shared balcony offering the most incredible view over Maskeliya.

Great stay with stunning views

We spent a weekend at Pekoe Lodge with a group of 13, and we were really glad we did. The view from the upstairs balcony was breathtaking, overlooking the reservoir with Adam's Peak right behind it. Ishara and the hotel staff were fantastic, always going the extra mile to meet our requests. The food was also top-notch, especially the kiribath and the curries, served in very generous portions. Additionally, they offered electric vehicle charging (likely one at a time) for a small fee. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area!

Wonderful stay with stunning views

We truly enjoyed our time at Pekoe Lodge. The accommodations were immaculate, contemporary, and very comfortable. The food was amazing, especially the BBQ dinner we specifically requested, which was fantastic—ample servings and great bang for your buck. What really enhanced our experience was the staff. They were exceptionally efficient, friendly, and always willing to assist with anything we required. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the stunning view of Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak). Waking up to that landscape was an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking a tranquil and picturesque retreat in Maskeliya.
