Delicious roasts and sweet treats

I strongly recommend trying the roasts; I've sampled all of them and they are fantastic. Don't miss out on asking for the chicken curry sauce—it's even more delicious. Be sure to end your meal with the green, ball-shaped sweet, which has a delightful coconut and bean flavor. The sweet tea is also a popular choice among locals! All of this comes in at under 700 rupees. I had the chance to share my meal with a local and discuss everyday concerns and other topics. Overall, it was a real delight, and the service was outstanding.

Inconsistent hygiene issues

I don't understand why this place has received such high ratings. Each of my three visits has revealed a consistent problem with flies and overall cleanliness. The tables and floors are not properly cleaned; they just get wiped down with a dirty rag, leaving behind food residue that clearly attracts flies. A restaurant with flies is a sign of poor hygiene. I've dined at other establishments in Haputale that manage to keep their spaces fly-free by actually washing their surfaces. This place really needs to step up its hygiene practices. While the food is decent, it's hard to feel confident in its safety. Proceed with caution if you choose to eat here.

Delicious local spot with great prices

This charming local eatery offers very reasonable prices and truly delicious food. The dishes were served surprisingly fast, and every item we sampled was fantastic. Ali was exceptionally warm and hospitable, making us feel at home as soon as we walked in. A Heartwarming Experience at Ali's

After a long and tiring bus ride, I found myself at Ali’s food stall in Haputale, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. Ali’s place is not just a spot to grab a bite; it truly feels like a community hub. Locals are always coming and going, and it’s clear that Ali is well-known and loved by everyone around. The food is incredibly tasty, the prices are very reasonable, and what stood out to me the most was Ali's generosity. Some patrons even pay a bit extra so that those who can’t afford it can still eat here. That really speaks volumes about Ali’s character. He’s among the friendliest and most accommodating people I encountered in Sri Lanka. He offered excellent advice for my adventures in Haputale, arranged tuk-tuks for me at fair local rates instead of the usual tourist prices, and even took me to a secret bar where we had a fantastic evening. If you’re in Haputale, don’t just stop by for the food; come to meet Ali. He embodies the essence of Haputale, and it’s people like him who make a place truly memorable. Thank you, Ali, for your kindness and for enhancing my stay so much.

Warm Welcome and Delicious Dishes

This is the kind of place where you're greeted with genuine warmth. The wonderful manager offered us a variety of dishes to sample, and I must say, everything was tasty and full of flavor without being overly spicy. Huge praise goes to the owner for his cooking skills! It's definitely worth a visit if you're looking to escape the usual tourist spots. Plus, the prices are very reasonable for Sri Lanka.
