It's a nice spot! While their claim of a sea view is a bit exaggerated, you can only see the water from certain areas. The location is lovely and right on the beach, which I would definitely recommend. I enjoyed a simple but delightful one-minute walk to the beach to soak it all in during the morning.

This is by far the worst place I've ever stayed. Customer care is nonexistent. I strongly urge everyone to avoid this place.

There seemed to be a significant breakdown in communication between the management in Colombo and the staff at the location, resulting in quite a mess. I had shared our food preferences days in advance and reconfirmed them just hours before arriving, but the Shim staff had only been informed by Colombo one hour before our visit. Additionally, while Colombo had promised prices ahead of time, the Shim staff were unaware of this! The bedrooms also need some upgrades. The staff didn't come across as friendly at all. On the plus side, the location was decent. Overall, I can't recommend this place. I'm very disappointed. From what I've heard, it might cater well to foreigners, but it certainly doesn't seem to be accommodating for locals!

This lovely, unpretentious location in a tranquil village is a gem. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, truly making an effort to enhance your experience. The food is fantastic, and the chef is genuinely a nice person. The driver is also very friendly and helpful.

We reserved a room with AC, but upon arrival, we were told that our room didn’t have it. Upgrading to an AC room would cost an additional 2000 rupees on top of the Agoda price. The state of the room was quite disappointing; it wasn’t cleaned properly, and there were no towels, toilet paper, or even a trash bin in the bathroom. To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi was down, and even after messaging the host, nothing was resolved, which was frustrating since I needed to work. For 8000 rupees, the experience did not feel worth it at all.

During a road trip along the coast with my daughter's family from Sydney, we spent two nights at this location, which is conveniently near Elephant Rock and Crocodile Rock. My granddaughters were eager to surf, and Baby Point and Elephant Rock were just a short distance away. The property is a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, nestled right on the beach and surrounded by plenty of palm and pine trees. The accommodation was lovely, budget-friendly, and the rooms were super clean, comfortable, and had excellent air-conditioning. The clean kitchen was a nice bonus. The service provided by the two staff members was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place for a stay in ආරුගම්බේ.

We really enjoyed our stay at Shim Beach, where the views were stunning, and the atmosphere was peaceful. Kavi was an exceptional host, offering assistance when I needed advice about a damaged surfboard I rented. He was always eager to help. Manu prepared a fantastic breakfast for us each morning, consistently arriving on time, which allowed me to get up early for my surfing sessions. I highly recommend this place!

It’s a serene spot, away from the hustle and bustle, yet still conveniently located near popular surf spots like Crocodile Rock. If you’re looking for a comfortable place with beautiful beach vistas, this is the place to be! The service is outstanding as well.
