During my trip to Lanka, I had the pleasure of visiting this place twice over a few days. It's truly fantastic. Even though I opted for the least expensive room, I found it to be very comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they really know their stuff when it comes to gemstones.

Ratna Gem Halt is a charming little hotel featuring 10 rooms across three different quality levels. It's quite affordable, with the highest-priced room costing 3000 Rs for one with air conditioning and 2500 Rs without, which is about £15 and includes breakfast. The hotel offers lovely views, although we didn't stay in the lower-priced rooms.

We were a bit hesitant after reading some negative Trip Advisor reviews, but I believed that the reviewer who rated it Excellent must have had a different experience compared to those who gave it a Bad rating. The guide made it clear that there were various levels of experience to consider.

We had a lovely stay for three nights at this guesthouse, which is conveniently located close to the center. The rooms were tidy, and it was peaceful at night. The view was quite lovely as well. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It’s just a 15-minute stroll to the heart of the city. Plus, they serve tasty breakfast and dinner options there.

I appreciated how accommodating the staff was. You can inquire about anything, and they'll make it happen. As a bonus, at the end, they take you to an excellent tea estate where you can purchase the finest tea from their outlet located next to the factory. I would recommend this place to any gem travelers passing through the area.

I booked a reservation via Booking.com around 9:45 PM and tried to confirm it at about 9:53 PM. Unfortunately, I was told that the place had already closed for the night. I was also asked how many people were in my party, but it was frustrating to find out they weren't open.

We had an incredible stay. The bed was very comfortable, the hot shower worked perfectly, and there was ample space in our room. The view from our room was breathtaking. The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful—when we needed to replace a tire, he provided full support. The only downside was the lack of towels. However, given the service and the price, it’s quite acceptable. This place deserves more than 5 stars. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
