    Mosquito Issue Overshadows Stay

We reserved a cabana for an overnight stay, but upon entering, we were met with hundreds of mosquitoes inside. The only solution offered by the caretaker was a fast kill spray. It shouldn't be our responsibility to deal with that, so we ended up leaving. The location is lovely, but I don't understand why the management hasn't addressed this issue. I can't recommend this place.

    Management Issues Spoil the Experience

Staying here could turn into a nightmare. I strongly advise against it. The management is completely unpleasant, charging for meals for even your 2-year-old children. Honestly, they seem intent on emptying your wallet at every turn. While the natural surroundings are beautiful, the staff's management really dampens the experience.

    Management Issues Detract from Stay

The hotel's management seems to be disconnected from the services provided, as the main manager appears to set prices arbitrarily. It's unfortunate for the owner, but despite this, guests continue to return. However, cleanliness in the bathrooms is lacking, and the rooms only seem to be superficially cleaned. I ordered rice but received a dish with no chicken, just a lot of bones. I paid 200 rupees for a bottle of water, which I felt should have been provided in the room, and 400 rupees for two cups of tea. The costs break down as follows: Room 5500/=, rice 1250/=, water bottle 200/=, and tea 400/=. This totals 7350/=. Adding a 10% service charge brings the total to 8085/=. Unless the owner decides to change the management, they might need to consider closing the place down.

    Beautiful setting but some drawbacks

The exterior is stunning, and the pool area is nice. One older gentleman was quite friendly. However, we faced a couple of issues: he attempted to charge us extra for pool access since we weren't staying in a cabana, which was never mentioned on any booking sites. Despite being the only guests, he didn't seem friendly about it. Additionally, the room was dirty, and there were a lot of mosquitoes indoors. No one offered us breakfast or anything, but it wasn't a big deal since we had our own bikes to head into town. Still, if food is available, it should be mentioned.

    Unsafe stay with good food

This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The management was unfriendly, and the cleanliness of the rooms, bathrooms, and even the pool left much to be desired. To make matters worse, all the money from my vault was stolen while I was in the room, and when I raised the issue, they told me that it was my responsibility to protect my money. There was also no CCTV coverage on the premises. On a positive note, the food was tasty and plentiful. Because of these issues, I can't recommend this place for a safe and enjoyable stay.

    Poor management ruins beautiful location

This place has the potential to be great, given its lovely setting, but the management is seriously lacking. The rooms were not cleaned, and we found that the water heater and glasses were dirty. To make matters worse, there was a frog in the toilet, and the A/C was broken, leaking water everywhere. If you’re considering a visit, my advice is to skip the food. We ordered fried rice, which was the worst I’ve ever tasted—more MSG and soup cubes than actual rice. Plus, they charged a 10% service fee on the entire hotel bill, not just the meals. While there are limited options for overnight stays in Kuliyapitiya, I would recommend steering clear of this place.

A hidden gem for nature enthusiasts

This place is a real find for anyone who loves nature! After reading the reviews, we were unsure about making a reservation, but we're really glad we took the plunge! Initially, we had planned to stay in a room, but after seeing the cabanas, we decided to go for one instead (the cabanas are what you see online, and for a little extra, they offer a much better value). Mr. Fernando, the owner, was incredibly welcoming, and the staff were friendly and eager to meet all our needs. During our time by the pool, we spotted various animals, including little frogs, storks, and parrots, which definitely added to the charm of the place. Despite some negative reviews, we chose to dine at the hotel and were pleased with our choice! The portions were generous and delicious. It's unfortunate that some guests had a negative experience, but it's important for people to have realistic expectations when booking hotels. If you're seeking a luxurious city getaway, this may not be the right fit for you. However, if you're a nature lover who doesn't mind sharing space with the wildlife, this is worth a visit.

    Avoid this place for families

We stayed for two nights with our kids and it was a disappointing experience. The rooms had unpleasant odors, and there were numerous mosquitoes and ants. They charged us 8000/- per night, but there was no hot water for showers. We booked this place for our kids' school tournament, and some guests were even asking for refunds due to the poor conditions. Unfortunately, the owner was unhelpful and refused to issue any refunds. I strongly advise against staying here.

    Nice eco-friendly cabana experience

We booked a cabana for an overnight stay due to the eco-friendly setting. However, when we arrived at the room, it was filled with mosquitoes and insects. The caretaker mentioned that the cabana had been reserved for the entire day and they hadn't opened it up yet. He provided me with a...

    Terrible experience at this hotel

This has been the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The owner comes across as very unprofessional and unfriendly, treating us like we did something wrong by choosing his hotel. He even blamed us for the broken AC, which was clearly not our fault, since they hadn’t checked it before giving us the room. The cleanliness was appalling. We found a cockroach in the fridge and several frogs in both the room and the bathroom. Some of the dressing table cupboards even had frogs inside them. I suggest you don’t open any doors in these rooms. My family and I ended up cleaning our own rooms. They didn’t provide us with fresh bedding, and the pillowcases and sheets were stained. Additionally, the owner’s attitude was quite unpleasant. When the AC broke down, both he and his son acted as if we were responsible for it. They also charged us extra for our food: we ordered four fried rices, yet they billed us for eight. The owner is very deceitful. I strongly advise against choosing this hotel for your vacation. This has been the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. They clearly have no idea about running a hospitality business; all they care about is making money. Do not waste your time and money here.
