    Great hosts, minor maintenance issues

We were extremely well taken care of by our wonderful hosts, Sameera and 'Uncle'. The meals they prepared were absolutely delicious! Sameera was always available to assist with a friendly smile. Even when heavy rains caused a few leaks in the roof, we still felt cared for and attended to. The service was truly outstanding, easily a 10 out of 10. However, the building could benefit from some upkeep to enhance guest comfort. Thank you so much, Sameera and Uncle, for making our stay fantastic. 🙏🏾

Exceptional stay with a fantastic host

Our experience at Lekham Walauwa was outstanding. The location is peaceful, surrounded by stunning nature, and the house is beautifully adorned with vintage decor, adding a lot of character to the place. It's hard to discuss our time there without highlighting Sameera, the housekeeper, who was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and attentive. Upon our arrival, he greeted us with refreshing fruit juices. When he found out we had trouble locating an open spice garden that day, he went out of his way to find one and drove us there in his own tuktuk. We had opted for the meal package and were thoroughly impressed by the quality and generous servings of the dishes Sameera prepared for us. On our last morning, he even offered to drive us to the bus station. We really couldn’t have asked for a better host or a more enjoyable stay. If you’re heading to the Matale region, don’t hesitate to book this place!

    Charming stay with great hospitality

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lekham Walauwa, which we found to be an excellent value for what we paid. The room was located in a stunning colonial-style building brimming with character and charm. Staying in a place with such rich history and ambiance felt special. There was also a lovely chill-out area equipped with a hammock — ideal for unwinding in the afternoons. Service was warm and friendly during our entire visit, and we were grateful for the thoughtful little touches. The availability of a washing machine at no extra cost was a significant perk while we were on the road, and the complimentary breakfast on our departure day was a lovely gesture. The only drawback is that it’s around a 30-minute walk to the main town of Matale. However, if you're okay with the walk or opt for a quick tuk tuk ride, the peaceful atmosphere and unique character of the property make it well worth it. In summary, it’s a delightful and comfortable place to stay with wonderful hospitality — we would gladly recommend it.

A Heartfelt Stay at Lekham Walauwa

Our family's time at Lekham Walauwa in Matale was a deeply emotional and memorable experience. This place was my father's childhood home, and wandering through the rooms felt like a journey back in time—filled with memories and a rich sense of heritage in every nook. My dad particularly cherished this visit since it had been over 20 years since he last returned to his roots. It created a special father-daughter memory for us! Now beautifully preserved as an Airbnb and rest house, Lekham Walauwa strikes a perfect balance between vintage charm and comfort. The ambiance is serene and surrounded by lush nature, encouraging you to relax and take a deep breath. It’s one of those places where you awaken to the sounds of birds, greenery, and an overwhelming sense of peace. The food was truly delightful—genuine, home-cooked Sri Lankan cuisine prepared with great care and affection. Each meal felt like a tribute to local flavors and traditions. Most importantly, the hospitality was outstanding. We were greeted not merely as guests but as family, which added to the significance of our stay. Lekham Walauwa is more than just a lodging; it’s a soulful experience brimming with history and genuine Sri Lankan warmth. An unforgettable visit that will always hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️

    Charming Stay at Lakeham Waluwa

We spent a day and night at Lakeham Waluwa, and it was a delightful experience. The property exudes a charming, classic ambiance with a lovely vintage feel that makes it quite special. Initially, we had booked two rooms, but they kindly provided us with three at no extra cost. Mr. Sameera welcomed us warmly and was incredibly attentive. He offered us tea and coffee right upon our arrival and showed us to our rooms. Later that evening, when the rain started, he personally went out to fetch us dinner, which we truly appreciated. The aesthetics of the place are very pleasing, it's conveniently situated near the main road, and there's plenty of parking available. We also enjoyed a tasty breakfast the next morning upon our request. If you're in the Matale area, I highly recommend checking this place out. It offers a wonderful blend of comfort, hospitality, and charm.

We enjoyed a fantastic two-day stay at Lekham Walauwa, and it genuinely felt like a perfect retreat from the hustle of Colombo. The setting was remarkably tranquil—you could only hear the birds singing, and we even saw a variety of stunning birds around the grounds. The service was outstanding. Sameera and Bandula looked after us exceptionally well, ensuring everything was just right during our visit. The homemade meals were truly delightful—fresh, authentic, and prepared with great care. If you’re seeking a serene, relaxing getaway in nature, I highly recommend this place. We’ll certainly return!

    Peaceful stay with delightful nature

We enjoyed a tranquil and relaxing stay at Lekam Wallawa. This beautifully restored historic residence radiates tranquility. It's impeccably clean and comfortable. The lush garden is not only a dream for nature enthusiasts but also a paradise for birdwatchers. I spotted grey hornbills, parakeets, woodpeckers, paradise flycatchers, fantails, white-browed bulbuls, Loten's sunbirds, tailorbirds, bellers, and mynahs. The caretaker and assistant were very helpful, friendly, and kind. The food was simple yet absolutely delicious. We cherished every moment of our time there.
