During a brief visit to Matale, I discovered this little treasure. Veronika and the caretaker were incredibly accommodating, which made my experience truly pleasant. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to return.

Our experience at the Walawwa was outstanding. The space was tidy and spacious, creating a cozy atmosphere. They offered well-prepared homemade breakfast, providing excellent value for the price. The garden was well-kept. Overall, we enjoyed a relaxing stay right in the center of Matale and would definitely come back.

During our recent trip to Matale, we stumbled upon a lovely spot right in the town center called Irene's Home. This charming "walauwwa" or colonial-style house features antique decorations, and it’s surrounded by a well-maintained lawn and lush greenery. The cleanliness was outstanding, making it feel like we were staying at our grandmother's house. They served a tasty Sri Lankan breakfast with a variety of choices. The atmosphere was peaceful and tranquil. The staff were respectful and accommodating, happily meeting our polite requests. Overall, it was a delightful stay, and we plan to return. We reserved Irene's Home for two nights on a FB basis. The rooms were both spacious and tidy. The food was incredible, and I highly recommend trying the Sri Lankan dishes as they excel in that area. The service was really impressive. It's a lovely pet-friendly spot that provides easy access to nearby excursions.

We had a fantastic one-night stay at Irene’s Home in Matale and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is stunning, featuring beautiful views, tranquil surroundings, and a delightful garden that created a relaxing atmosphere. 🌿🏡 The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, and well-kept, meeting all our expectations. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, engaging us in a great conversation and offering helpful tips that enhanced our experience. One minor suggestion would be to expand the food options. The selection was a bit limited, and the portion sizes felt a tad small for us. More variety, particularly with additional Sri Lankan and Western dishes, would improve the overall experience. Aside from that, everything was wonderful. We had a pleasant and restful night, truly appreciating the beautiful location and serene ambiance. Thank you for the excellent hospitality. We would be more than happy to return and highly recommend Irene’s Home to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in Matale! ❤️🌿

This beautiful colonial-style guesthouse is situated close to the center of Matale! The staff here are very friendly and accommodating, and although their English is limited, we found it easy to communicate. Breakfast was outstanding, featuring a variety of traditional dishes prepared by the lady who runs the place! They even took away everything we didn’t finish! Thank you for everything!

We enjoyed a fantastic four-night stay at this place. The room and bathroom were spotless, with a perfectly made bed featuring fresh bedding and a mosquito net. The bathroom came equipped with both shampoo and shower gel. The accommodation was very peaceful, and each morning we woke up to the sound of chirping birds! 🥰 Breakfast was incredible and more than enough for two people. Each day, we savored fresh fruit, local dishes, baked goods, and were served coffee and tea daily. 🤩 We will definitely return!

This place is spotless, peaceful, and serves excellent breakfast :) It's an ideal spot for those who enjoy tranquility. There's a lovely garden, and both the room and bathroom are very tidy and attractive. The caretakers are friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend Irene's home :)
