This place is situated close to an archaeological site. The owner helped us arrange for rented bicycles. The staff were exceptionally friendly. They even went to the supermarket to get us beers while we relaxed and enjoyed watching the wildlife around the pond. We were entertained by hornbills, kingfishers, kites, and Charley the dog. The food was quite good and the owners were incredibly accommodating. Thanks again!

Our four-night visit to Clay Hut Village was truly unforgettable! Nestled in a beautiful and tranquil setting, the peaceful environment allowed us to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, while still being conveniently close to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, making it easy to explore all the historical sites nearby. The rooms were surrounded by nature, cozy, clean, and spacious. Every meal we had was delicious and presented well. They were genuinely helpful in providing recommendations for dining options and places to visit, and they even arranged bicycles for us to explore the area. What really distinguished this place was the warm and inviting hospitality of the staff, who made us feel like family from the very beginning. Lahiru, his mother, and Tharindu were exceptionally friendly and ensured our comfort throughout our stay. The adorable puppy Charlie and the cat added an extra touch of charm to our experience. I highly recommend this place; it was truly one of the best stays I've had, and I would love to return. A big thank you to the wonderful people at Clay Hut Village for making our stay so memorable.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Clay Hut Village in Polonnaruwa! The property is quite expansive, featuring a lake and plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching. During our brief one-night visit, we spotted numerous spotted deer, macaques, langurs, and a wide variety of birds. The hosts were exceptionally warm and engaging, sharing a wealth of insights about Sri Lanka’s wildlife, culture, and history, including details on the Polonnaruwa Ancient City and tips for our visit. This really enhanced our experience at the ruins! We savored a delightful traditional Sri Lankan dinner upon our arrival and enjoyed breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake before we set out for sightseeing. The location is also conveniently close to one of the exits to the Polonnaruwa Ancient City, allowing us to explore the ruins early in the morning when there were fewer crowds, and we could return to the hotel in just a few minutes. We also loved spending time with their resident dogs, Max and Charlie! All in all, our stay at Clay Hut Village in Polonnaruwa was memorable, and we highly recommend it for anyone visiting the Ancient City!

This place is a lovely family-run lodging with modern, cozy, and reasonably priced rooms situated right by the historic site, surrounded by a beautiful garden that attracts plenty of wildlife. The young manager is not only friendly and smart but also speaks exceptional English and is knowledgeable about nearly everything. They can help arrange fantastic excursions, and I highly recommend the lake tour. The breakfasts and dinners, which are optional but also highly suggested, are delicious and freshly made by the lady of the house. Overall, it was a wonderful, inviting, and warm experience. Enjoy genuine Sri Lankan hospitality. I would rate this place a perfect 100 out of 10. I stayed here for three nights with two friends, and we had a really nice and relaxing time. I absolutely adore the location and its tranquil environment.

This is a lovely and peaceful spot away from the hustle of the city. At night, you might even see deer munching on the grass. The rooms do have an older feel but they meet your needs. The bathroom offered hot water, which was nice. There’s plenty of parking available. The food was tasty and homemade; however, it felt a bit on the pricey side. I really enjoyed my time chatting with Lahiru and his family. Wishing them all the best!

This spot was one of the most enchanting places we visited during our entire trip. It's a fantastic choice if you want to be close to the temples, enjoy watching small animals each day, and especially savor some of the best curry we've ever had. The food is served on a stunning terrace that couldn't be more beautiful. Our host was incredibly pleasant and lovely. Truly amazing experience!

This place is in a lovely spot near the ancient city. Achinthya and her mother are attentive hosts who are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Achinthya's mother prepared meals for the guests, and they were absolutely delicious. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. The cozy cabana provides simple but comfortable lodging amidst beautiful greenery. If you're searching for a short stay in Polonnaruwa with outstanding hospitality, I highly recommend this place.
