Great stay with amazing safari experience

We spent two nights here and had a wonderful time. The staff were all very friendly and contributed to making our stay memorable. The hotel was clean, and the meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—were quite good. We enjoyed birdwatching in a nearby garden, toured a cinnamon plantation, and the highlight was definitely the safari arranged by the hotel. Our driver was very experienced and ensured our safety while we spotted elephants, bears, a leopard, a crocodile, and many other animals in Yala.

    Great stay with fantastic staff

We stayed one night at this boutique hotel while on our safari at Yala National Park. The rooms were spacious, featuring large, comfy beds, and the showers had strong, hot water. The highlight of our stay was definitely the owners and staff, who truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant experience. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel, which turned out to be one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. They also arranged our safari with an excellent guide, allowing us to see a variety of wildlife, including leopards, a black bear, and elephants. Additionally, we purchased some high-quality locally grown cinnamon at a very fair price. Overall, this hotel is fantastic, and I would gladly return on my next trip.

    Stunning stay with wonderful people

We spent a night here while exploring Sri Lanka, and it was truly a memorable experience. The location is breathtaking, overlooking a small plantation that grows organic produce served at the hotel. The gardens and house are well-kept, our room was cozy, and the beds were comfortable. The shower was great, and the magnetic mosquito nets were surprisingly effective. Every meal was tasty, enjoyed on a small terrace with a view of the plantation, complete with peacocks in sight. What stood out the most were the people; all the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, doing everything to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We particularly loved the plantation tour with Mr. Raj, who is an engaging individual with a fascinating life story. We also appreciated chatting with the friendly owners. I only wish we could have stayed longer, but this experience will certainly be a highlight from our trip in Sri Lanka. Thank you to everyone at Mailagama Cinnamon Residence 🙏🙏

    Wonderful family stay at Mailagama

We had a wonderful time at Mailagama Cinnamon Residence with our two kids, ages 1 and 5. The environment was serene, safe for children, and impeccably kept. The dining area on the ground floor offered a lovely view of lush paddy fields — enjoying breakfast and dinner there was simply delightful. There’s also a spacious indoor dining area equipped with everything you need. The food was outstanding, especially the buffalo curd with honey for dessert, which was remarkable! They serve authentic Sri Lankan cuisine that feels like it’s made with care and expertise, making every meal feel homemade and comforting. Our room was roomy, spotless, soundproof, and insect-proof, featuring a very comfy bed and a large bathroom with a hot shower. The balcony provided stunning views of the paddy fields and distant mountains. Waking up to such a view truly soothes the mind and energizes you for the day ahead. Getting to Kataragama Maha Devalaya and Sella Kathirkamam Temple was a breeze from here, making it a convenient and tranquil spot for our visit. What made our experience truly memorable was the kindness and hospitality of the owner, the manager, and the staff. They were all exceptionally friendly and accommodating, and we felt a genuine sense of care and authenticity during our stay. We will certainly return on our next trip to Kataragama and enthusiastically recommend this lovely place to our family and friends.

    Great stay with delicious food

After our safari in Udawalawe and before heading out for our morning safari in Yala, we had a lovely stay here! We enjoyed dinner, which was really tasty. The freshly made hoppers and egg hoppers (we could see them being prepared!) were just what we needed after a long day. Moreover, they provided a wonderful breakfast basket for our morning safari, filled with egg sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, cookies, and water, which we truly appreciated. The family that owns and operates this hotel is incredibly friendly, making our brief stay very enjoyable! The views from the balcony are stunning, overlooking a lush landscape.

    Charming stay with excellent hospitality

Our time at Mailagama Cinnamon Residence in Kataragama was truly delightful. Nestled among farmland, the location provides a serene atmosphere and a connection to nature that made it a perfect spot to relax. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and very comfortable. Everything felt well-maintained, and the tranquil vibe was refreshing. What truly stood out was the exceptional hospitality. The owners we encountered were incredibly friendly, and Mr. Inbaraj, the manager, was particularly accommodating during our stay. He took us on a guided tour of the gardens, offered tips about local sights, and assisted in organizing our safari to Yala. His staff was equally impressive. The dining experience was another highlight — dinner was tasty and reasonably priced, and they even prepared breakfast for us to take on our safari, which we greatly appreciated. As Sri Lankans, this experience felt like returning home. It was a deeply calming spot to disconnect, and we’re already excited about the prospect of visiting again for a few more days in the future.

    Warm welcome, mixed dining experience

I received a warm and friendly welcome along with a delightful cup of cinnamon tea. The room, while basic, was clean and equipped with multi-country plug sockets and a kettle for tea or coffee, though it lacked an in-room safe. Unfortunately, dinner was a bit disappointing as the food was served cold and somewhat lacking.

Great stay near wildlife and spirituality

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this hotel, which is ideally situated near wildlife attractions and significant religious sites like Kiri Wehera, Kataragama Dewalaya, and Sella Katharagama. The ability to explore nearby national parks while also visiting sacred locations truly enhanced our trip. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well-kept. Our rooms were spacious, providing a soothing atmosphere after a day of sightseeing. The food was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any requests. The tranquil surroundings and close proximity to nature contributed to the overall experience. Whether you're there for wildlife excursions or spiritual reasons, this hotel is a fantastic option. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable and conveniently located stay.

    Authentic Experience at Cinnamon Residence

We had a wonderful time at Cinnamon Residence, which truly feels authentic! The rooms are cozy and clean—nothing extravagant, but we enjoyed restful nights despite having to wake up early for our safari. There were no barking dogs and the hot showers were a nice touch. The house is just as beautiful as shown in the photos online, set in a very tranquil area surrounded by paddy fields. You can even take a walk to a nearby lake. There’s a spice garden where the manager, Mr. Sinniah Inbaraj, shares his passion for the plants. We spent time reading and relaxing on the terrace or in a charming wooden observatory overlooking the fields. The staff were incredibly lovely and eager to help. They cultivate their vegetables organically, and you can really taste the difference. The food was quite delicious and varied during our two-night stay. Mr. Inbaraj, who works for the owner Indira, has a background in Sri Lankan health projects. He’s a very intelligent and interesting man, genuinely dedicated to ensuring each guest's happiness. We enjoyed a fantastic safari with Nimal at HKN Yala Safari bloc 5, where we spotted stunning animals and birds, including a magnificent leopard and eagle. Nimal is clever, a nature enthusiast, a careful driver, and really skilled at finding animals and identifying birds. Our experience at Cinnamon Residence will be a cherished memory of the true Sri Lankan spirit. Thank you, Mr. Inbaraj.

    Great stay with friendly service

We spent two nights at Cinnamon Residence to enjoy a full day safari. The hotel arranged the safari for us, including breakfast and lunch. They also provided excellent transportation for a reasonable price from Weligama to Cinnamon Residence, and then to Ella when we departed. The rooms were clean, and the temperature was comfortable thanks to the AC and fan. Cinnamon Residence is a stunning building located in a picturesque area surrounded by rice fields, a spice garden, and a nearby lake. Dinner was served outdoors in a cozy setting, featuring freshly prepared traditional Sri Lankan dishes. Inbaraj, the hotel manager, ensured everything was just right. He welcomed us warmly and gave us a fantastic tour of the spice garden. He taught us a lot about the spices and shared some of his personal stories, which we found very interesting! Thank you, Inbaraj, and the entire staff for a wonderful stay!
