I spent four days and three nights at Ahu Bay Resort in the second week of October 2025. Pros: • Villa 101 is stunning, well-organized, and tastefully decorated. • The cleanliness inside the villa is exceptional. • The swimming pool is amazing, and the sunset views from it are truly remarkable. Cons: • The resort is quite small, with only one restaurant. • Food prices are steep compared to other locations, and the portion sizes are rather small for what you pay. • The beach area is limited and not as clean as the accommodations. • We experienced multiple power outages during our stay, affecting the AC and Wi-Fi. • There was one instance of water being cut off. • Ongoing construction nearby resulted in some disruptive noise while we were sunbathing. • Beach vendors frequently approached us to offer tour activities, which became irritating. • Several staff members had limited English proficiency, making communication challenging at times. • I requested a one-hour late checkout after my stay, but it was declined in a rather unfriendly way. A five-star hotel should uphold higher standards than this. Overall: While the villa and pool are excellent, the overall experience at the resort fell short of expectations given the price.

Ahu Bay is truly a remarkable place to stay. The decor and environment are breathtaking, but the standout feature is definitely the staff, who are outstanding. Having traveled around the world, we found their kindness and level of professionalism to be exceptional; every encounter was a joy. For this reason alone, we can't recommend Ahu Bay enough. The resort is tastefully situated away from the busy main roads, nestled in a peaceful village atmosphere. The food is excellent and beautifully presented. I treated myself to two massages with Amanda at the spa, and they were both outstanding—an absolute delight. Having such a vigilant lifeguard is an added bonus, especially since the sea can change quickly; it's important to watch for the waves that follow the calm periods. It's just what the sea does! We would gladly return to this fabulous resort and are thrilled that we booked five nights here; our stay has been absolutely wonderful and couldn't have been better. Thank you to the entire team of Stars. P.S. We’ve completed our trip across Sri Lanka, and Ahu Bay was, without a doubt, the best accommodation we encountered on every level.

This is definitely one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. The size is just right, and the service is outstanding. We were honestly amazed at how well they anticipated our needs. For instance, we would head out to the beach beds and find the beach towels already set up for us, even before we asked. Every staff member was fantastic, and the food was excellent! We didn’t feel the need to leave the hotel for 4 days… It’s uncommon to discover such a vibrant hotel.

What truly stands out are the people. The Ahu Bay team is exceptional — warm, attentive, sincere, and genuinely enjoyable to converse with. Their kindness and attentiveness made our stay feel incredibly personal and unforgettable. We spent ten days there, and every request we made was met with enthusiasm and ease. Each morning, we were asked if we had any special dinner requests, and every evening, we were treated to beautifully presented, innovative, and absolutely delicious meals — often customized to our preferences. Our beach days were equally unforgettable. The ocean can be fierce, but thanks to Supun, the hotel’s lifeguard, we always felt secure. His calm demeanor and professionalism allowed us to relax and fully enjoy our time. Ahu Bay is more than just a hotel — it’s a harmonious blend of luxury, nature, and genuine human warmth. We leave with wonderful memories and a strong desire to return.

I visited with my elderly mom and spent one night at the resort. Initially, I booked a standard room, but the hotel kindly upgraded us to a suite since my mom couldn't manage stairs, which I appreciated. The service was excellent, and the staff—especially Anjula, Kasun, Lakshan, and Ashen—were incredibly helpful and fantastic. I highly recommend this resort; it's truly one of a kind.

Ahu Bay was definitely one of the standout moments of our Sri Lanka trip.
