This is a wonderful place to stay, conveniently located next to Bundala National Park. The hosts are incredibly welcoming, and the food is fantastic. We had a great time going on a safari in the national park and then enjoying tea on the balcony with a stunning view!

This is a fantastic spot to stay close to Bundala National Park. The views from the rooms are lovely, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The safari experience stood out—it's clear they have a deep knowledge and passion for the park and its wildlife, which made for an informative and enjoyable time. We had a fantastic experience here. Chamin and his wife took excellent care of us. He arranged an amazing safari, and she prepared some delicious meals for us. It's also a fantastic spot for birdwatching.

Bundala Flamingo Cottage offers a phenomenal experience, primarily due to the owner, Chamin. His extensive knowledge about birds, elephants, plants, and the local ecosystem makes this place truly memorable. He took charge of everything to ensure we enjoyed the beauty of nature surrounding the cottages. During our safari, he guided us in spotting various animals and shared insights from his own experiences and extensive research. We were able to see about 30-40 elephants up close, which was surreal. Chamin also arranged a morning oruwa ride, where we explored natural bird habitats. This was one of the most peaceful and beautiful experiences I've ever had. Piyumi, his wife, was equally delightful, warm, and caring, serving us delicious Sri Lankan meals that were simple yet packed with authentic flavors. The rooms were cozy and well-organized, featuring large beds, cleanliness, mosquito nets, AC, hot water, and ample space to unwind. I was particularly impressed by the walls adorned with clay and the imprints of human hands, a detail that speaks volumes about the dedication and creativity behind this place. I appreciated their strong ties to the nearby villages. They involve local residents in their business, creating a genuinely sustainable and eco-friendly model. This is a perfect example of what Sri Lankan tourism should embody. I noticed some negative reviews that I don't agree with. This might not be suitable for those who aren't pet-friendly or who are sensitive to nature. The wetland ecosystem here is fragile, and not all outside vehicles behave appropriately. It truly requires living in this environment to comprehend and respect it. As a small, developing business, there might be minor issues from time to time (though we faced none), but they are incredibly attentive and strive to offer an authentic nature experience. If you're passionate about nature and want to experience it authentically, this is the ideal spot. The price is absolutely justified, and the experience they provide is invaluable. Supporting them means enjoying a fantastic stay while also contributing to a passionate, sustainable vision as they continue to grow.

We spent a single night at Flamingo Cottages, which felt too brief. The location is outstanding, with views of the lagoon. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, and Charmin, our safari guide, was fantastic—he definitely knows his birds. It's a wonderful family-run business. We truly enjoyed our time there.

Our experience at Bundala Flamingo Cottage was outstanding. Its location is ideal—situated right in Bundala and just a short distance from Bundala National Park. The cottage provides stunning views of the marshlands, allowing us to enjoy numerous bird sightings directly from the property. The owner, Chamin, is an experienced wildlife guide with extensive knowledge about the area. We went on both morning and evening safaris with him and were blown away by the variety of wildlife we encountered. Chamin and his wife, Piyumi, were exceptionally warm, friendly, and accommodating during our stay. The meals prepared by Piyumi were incredibly tasty, bursting with a homemade touch. They even kindly offered us a ride to our next location since they were heading that way—such a considerate act. In summary, Bundala Flamingo Cottage is a lovely, serene place with fantastic owners who truly strive to make your stay unforgettable. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Bundala!

The Flamingo cottage rooms were tidy and equipped with A/C for added comfort. The view of the lagoon from the veranda was fantastic, especially in the early morning and late evening. I felt very much at home during my stay. Our host, Mr. Charmin, was welcoming and made us feel comfortable.

Our group of friends spent two nights at Flamingo Cottage, and it was a fantastic experience! Chamin was a wonderful host and safari guide. We enjoyed a memorable morning safari where we spotted birds, monkeys, and elephants, feeling as if we had the place to ourselves. The location is stunning, right by the lake. Nangi prepared us the most delicious breakfast and dinner. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

This location is truly incredible, and our hosts made us feel right at home, almost like family. The safari was unforgettable, as we felt completely alone in the national reserve while spotting nearly 50 different species of birds and animals. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the stunning views from the terrace overlooking the pristine parkland. The food was delightful, and we left feeling peaceful, relaxed, and connected to nature.

The family is incredibly kind and made sure my visit was very comfortable by organizing an amazing safari, preparing delicious Sri Lankan meals, providing a scooter for use, and helping with transport arrangements.
