Great stay with lovely views

We arrived late in the afternoon while traveling from Ella and hadn’t made a reservation. The hotel is conveniently situated right by the junction of the main road. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and successfully booked two rooms for the night. The staff was friendly and eager to assist us with our needs. The two rooms we received were on the top floor, offering a fantastic view. They were clean and looked inviting as soon as I entered. I must mention, they had the best towels I've encountered on this trip to Sri Lanka. We dined at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast; while some items were not available, the food we had was delicious and quite filling.

Great spot for meals in Hambantota

This is the best place in Hambantota for lunch or dinner at a 3-star level. The staff is incredibly friendly. You can even place your order by phone, and they'll have the food ready for you when you arrive at the hotel. I highly recommend it!

Declining food quality and value

The food seems to be deteriorating more each day—it's lacking flavor, the portion sizes are shrinking, and it's certainly not worth what you pay. Today, we ordered chicken stew and rice. The chicken stew resembled a bland broth that might be served to someone unwell; it was tasteless and visually unappealing. The rice was equally underwhelming. I’m really let down.

Decent stay with room for improvement

Blackstone is a reasonable choice for a brief visit, though it has its strengths and weaknesses. The rooms were tidy, which is a significant advantage, yet they felt somewhat dated and didn’t offer the cozy or modern atmosphere one might expect for the price. While basic amenities were provided, nothing really stood out as remarkable. The staff were courteous, but the service could have been more attentive—there were moments when it seemed like they were either understaffed or disorganized. The location is convenient, which adds to its appeal, but the interior ambiance fails to match the promise of the exterior. All in all, it’s a solid option for budget-conscious travelers or those just passing through, though there is definitely potential for enhancements in comfort, service quality, and facilities.

Mixed experience with fried chicken noodles

I ordered two fried chicken noodles from this place, and the cashier told me they could provide gravy at no extra cost, even when I offered to pay for it. She insisted it would be included, so we went ahead and ordered the noodles, hoping for the gravy. After about 30 minutes, our food was ready for takeout, but there was no gravy. When I inquired, the kitchen staff said they didn’t have any, and the cashier claimed it wasn’t included and wasn’t charged. For me, it didn’t matter if it was billed; I just wanted the gravy since I was willing to pay for it. They were quite rude, insisting it wasn’t included as I left with my order. Regarding the noodles, they mentioned that the large portion would be sufficient for two, but that wasn’t the case. There were only a few pieces of chicken, just enough to label it as chicken noodles, and the dish was overloaded with artificial flavors. We ended up drinking nearly a liter of water that night due to the excessive flavoring. I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to visitors, as they seem to disregard non-regular customers. I even overheard some hotel guests complaining about the service.

Delicious food and great service

We enjoyed a meal at their dine-in restaurant, and the food was incredible and definitely worth the cost. The customer service was commendable as well. I strongly recommend this hotel's dine-in restaurant.

Great stay at Black Stone

I’d like to express my gratitude to the entire staff, particularly the manager, Mr. Jayantha, for making my time at Black Stone enjoyable. I highly recommend staying here. Additionally, the hotel restaurant offers convenient access to tasty meals, and there’s a delightful bakery nearby.
