Thambu Illam is a fantastic option for anyone visiting Jaffna. This heritage property, which is 142 years old, is very well maintained and conveniently situated. The service provided by the staff is outstanding. Niranjan, in particular, was very accommodating, ensuring all our requests were fulfilled and paying close attention to details.

This lovely guesthouse is located just outside the bustling heart of Jaffna. We appreciated the unique character of the rooms, the refreshing pool, and the outstanding staff who went out of their way to assist us with anything we required. A quick tuk tuk ride takes you to the center, allowing you to escape the noise for some tranquility. The breakfasts were also fantastic - definitely recommend!

We recently spent three nights here and absolutely loved it. The building is stunning, full of character and history. Our room was fantastic, featuring a very comfy bed, a nice shower/bathroom, and even a separate lounge area with a TV. The breakfast was also delicious and plentiful. Most importantly, the staff were delightful and attentive; they took excellent care of us and made us feel very welcome. The location is great as well, situated on a quiet street. Since Jaffna is quite spread out, we usually relied on tuk tuks to get around. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
