Exceptional stay at Malabar Hotel

I recently spent two nights at Malabar Hotel, a place that truly deserves more than a five-star rating. The experience was beyond what I had anticipated. The hospitality was outstanding – their warmth and sincere care left me at a loss for words. The rooms were impressively comfortable and exceeded my expectations for the price. They featured cozy beds, mosquito nets, and air conditioning. Everything was spotlessly clean and well-organized. Additionally, you can enjoy food here. If you're in the mood for authentic homemade Sri Lankan Tamil cuisine, this is definitely the spot. The flavors surpassed my expectations, easily earning a perfect score of 100 out of 100. The prices were fair and well worth it. In summary, my time at this hotel was a memorable mix of true hospitality, kindness, and comfort. I highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay here.

Great homestay experience in Jaffna

Initially, we hesitated to book a homestay, but we ultimately chose to experience the local culture and history of Jaffna. Mr. Adhi, the property owner, truly went above and beyond to provide exceptional hospitality. His warm and friendly demeanor encouraged us to prolong our stay in Jaffna. Excellent stay in Jaffna

This Home is the top choice for accommodation in Jaffna. It truly feels like a home away from home. The location is perfect, providing easy access to all the tourist attractions. Charming location but cleanliness issues

The setting is nice, situated in a charming Jaffna-style house with parking for about two cars. However, cleanliness is a major concern. It has the potential to be great, but the bathrooms are definitely not up to standard. They’re not cleaned properly, and the kitchen has a musty smell as if it hasn’t seen sunlight in a long time. The host showed us an attic room, but it was dark, filled with mosquitoes, and had an unpleasant odor. We tried one meal there; it was passable, but I felt compelled to wash the glasses, plates, and spoons before using them. Overall, I wasn't satisfied, so after the first night, I decided to find another place.

Charming stay with a thoughtful host

I was intrigued about the name Malabar homestay, and hearing the story from the host revealed the thoughtfulness behind transforming this building from the early twentieth century. While the WiFi could use some improvement, the atmosphere was absolutely delightful. Located just off Kandy Road, which connects Jaffna to the rest of Sri Lanka, the homestay is conveniently accessible by regular buses to the main market. And yes, the other reviews are spot on—the host is exceptionally kind.

Great Stay at Malabari Home Stay

I visited Jaffna with my family and chose Malabari Home Stay for our stay, which included two family rooms for five people. The place was in excellent condition, very clean, and had a self-service kitchen that we could use. We made tea and coffee just the way we liked it.

Misleading reviews, disappointing stay

I usually avoid leaving negative reviews, but this time I felt compelled to share my experience since we might have been misled by fake reviews or perhaps a management change. Our stay was the worst we’ve ever had, especially as it was our first trip to Jaffna. A friend had recommended this guest house, and the reviews played a significant role in our choice. However, everything went wrong from the moment we arrived. The place hadn’t been cleaned before our check-in; there was sand all over the floor, which we were told was due to rain. There were no mats or carpets to wipe our feet, and the rooms were messy with bed linen that had a strange smell. The beds and mattresses were cheap and uncomfortable, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom situation was terrible. There were no locks on the doors, no towel racks or holders, and we had to leave our towels outside. The drainage system was also faulty, causing dirty soapy water to pool up to our ankles while we showered. The kitchen was unsanitary, smelled really bad, and was overrun with cockroaches. There was no water heater or proper kitchen utensils available. The manager, Adhi, was polite and responsive before we arrived, but once we got there, he was not helpful. Within ten minutes of our arrival, he insisted on full payment and then vanished. He promised us tea and asked us to bring milk, but he never delivered. When we tried to make it ourselves, we discovered there were no items to even heat the milk. Our attempts to reach him were futile since his phone was off for over half an hour. In the end, we had to clean the rooms, lobby, and kitchen ourselves, which was not only unpleasant but entirely unacceptable. There are many more issues, but honestly, I can’t fully express how disappointed we were. I advise against relying solely on the reviews for this place. They could be fake, outdated, or the management might have changed. Regrettably, we were misled by them. If anyone wants more details, feel free to reach out to me.
