The service here is fantastic—so friendly and warm! As a small business, they truly care about their guests. Richira took great care of us, and I highly suggest this place to anyone visiting Sigiriya, as they offer their services with complete honesty. The natural surroundings are stunning too!

We spent three nights at Sunshine Resort & Spa and found the staff to be extremely caring and hospitable. They helped us with our travel arrangements, even arranging for an elephant safari on the same day. Our room was spacious and the shower was warm and clean. The hotel offers beautiful views of the nearby rice fields and is just a short walk from Lion Rock. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here.

This hotel is definitely a worthwhile choice considering the price. It’s genuinely one of the best accommodations I've experienced in the area. The decor is lush with greenery, resembling a charming Sri Lankan-style home. It’s a tranquil and cozy spot, perfect for exploring the surrounding area. The staff here are fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about Sri Lanka. The person we interacted with spoke fluent English, which was a plus. The rooms are great, featuring air conditioning, comfortable clean beds, and a modern hot water shower system. However, the shower amenities left a bit to be desired, as there wasn't much provided for a family room (so bring your own shampoo and products). On the bright side, there was a nice area for making coffee and tea! The food was excellent, served as a set course rather than buffet-style. We enjoyed a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast that included pancakes filled with a sweet coconut filling, spring hoppers, and eggs. If you're looking for a place to stay, I recommend this hotel. It’s cheaper and more beneficial to book directly through the reception since the hotel receives all the payment, which helps support the locals! Just a side note: there isn’t a spa, which can be a bit misleading. 🥴

This place is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from Lions Rock and Pidurangala Rock, which is a bit further but still manageable. It's also near several restaurants. I really enjoyed the breakfast, which included fresh fruit, eggs, hoppers, a coconut rolled pancake, and coffee. The rooms are spacious, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They provided a very reasonable price for a private drive to Polonnaruwa and around the site as well. However, the only drawback is that loud music plays from across the street until about 11pm, which I didn't notice mentioned in any reviews I read before I booked.

I visited with my mother in September and I can definitely recommend Sunshine Resort & Spa Sigiriya. The location is excellent, with the major attractions nearby and easily accessible on foot. The rooms are spacious and tidy. However, the standout feature of this place is the owner. He is incredibly dedicated to ensuring his guests are satisfied, going above and beyond to meet any requests, whether it's arranging transportation to a local spa or organizing trips to nearby attractions. Overall, I highly recommend this place, and I've experienced quite a few.

This lovely spot is conveniently situated near shops and restaurants. The team took excellent care of us, helping to arrange tours and offering recommendations for the best places to see elephants as they roam between parks. They made sure we had safe and dependable drivers and guides. Breakfast was delicious, and the garden and fields behind the place are filled with wildlife. It's also a fantastic base for exploring Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock, which you can easily visit without a guide.

The main problem we encountered was our arrival at Negombo airport around 8pm, expecting to reach the hotel by midnight. I had informed the hotel via Hotels.com about our timing and was assured someone would be there. However, when we arrived, it was dark, pouring rain, and all the lights were off with no one in sight. We wandered around looking for anyone, but there was no one around. Fortunately, we found a bar across the street that was just closing, and they kindly let us stay while they reached out to the hotel. Eventually, the manager was roused and checked us in, but he mentioned they don’t see messages from Hotels.com because the owner is in the UK. Clearly, someone needs to ensure those messages get to the hotel staff. After that rocky start, our stay went smoothly. The breakfast was fantastic, and the location was perfect for our activities. They also offered a taxi service that took us to Kandy via Dambulla, which we greatly appreciated. The rooms were decent; however, the windows were thin, meaning we could hear all the jungle noises (some might consider this a plus), and the bed was comfortable. If we had arrived at a more typical hour, I’m sure we wouldn’t have experienced any issues. If you plan to book here and might arrive outside regular check-in hours, I recommend confirming with the hotel directly that someone will be available for you!

This place has an excellent location for exploring Sigiriya. I spent four amazing days here, using it as my base while I discovered the area. Ruchira at the front desk ensured I had all the best tips on where and when to visit. Kumara and Akash were fantastic guides for elephant safaris and Lion Rock. The complimentary breakfast offered a wonderful chance to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan staples. I already miss this place!

We had a wonderful two-night experience at Sunshine Resort and Spa. The place is impeccably clean, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Sri Lankan breakfast was simple yet delightful, and we also had a delicious lunch there. We particularly loved how warmly the staff treated our three-and-a-half-year-old son — they were incredibly kind to him! We arranged a safari directly through the hotel at a reasonable price, utilizing their jeep, and the staff provided us with excellent recommendations for the Horulu Eco Park. The entire tour lasted around three and a half hours. They also shared helpful advice for climbing Lion’s Rock, which is conveniently just a 15-minute walk away. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay — we would definitely come back.
