    Misleading photos and poor service

This place feels like a scam. Seriously, check out the reviews! I only made a reservation because of a photoshopped image (which they took down after I raised the issue) showing the Lion Rock view from the pool. When I got there, they put me in the wrong room and didn’t even show any concern about it.

    Rude Owner, Disappointing Service

I was very let down by my experience at Sigiriya Kele Hotel. The owner's attitude was quite rude and unprofessional, showing no respect towards guests. Instead of offering hospitality, we were met with arrogance and a poor attitude, which is not how anyone should be treated. It was truly disrespectful. We firmly disagree with the claim that the situation was handled with respect. The communication we received was disrespectful and dismissive. The fiber ONT was located in the reception area, which meant we had to work there as part of our job. Any issues regarding timing or arrangements could have been addressed in a calm and professional manner, but instead, the interaction was marked by arrogance. While setting boundaries is important, disrespectful behavior is unacceptable. Our review reflects our true experience.

    Peaceful getaway in nature

I spent some time here solo for a brief escape and it was wonderful! The setting was tranquil and enveloped by nature, making it ideal for unwinding. The rooms were tidy, cozy, and quite budget-friendly. The pool was pristine and ...

Decent stay with great staff support

Considering the price we paid, the room was quite satisfactory. However, the bathroom did have a faint odor that seemed to be coming from the drain. The staff were exceptional and really enhanced our experience. I ran into a problem with my booking dates, but they were fortunately able to accommodate us. The surroundings of the hotel could use a bit of upkeep, but the location itself was excellent, just a 10-minute walk to various restaurants and cafes. They also assisted us in arranging transportation to Lion Rock and an elephant safari at a fair price, offering plenty of helpful local advice. Card payments were also accepted.

    Great stay with helpful staff

We enjoyed our time at Sigiri Kele. The location is fantastic—just a short distance from Lion Rock, making morning visits easy. The staff were warm, friendly, and always ready to assist. They also helped us arrange transportation to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and for our subsequent trips to Kandy and Ella, ensuring everything went smoothly and without stress. Overall, a lovely place to stay and I highly recommend it.

    Friendly staff but needs maintenance

We found the staff to be very friendly, courteous, and consistently helpful, which we truly appreciated. The food was decent, earning a solid 4 out of 5. However, given the price we paid, the overall property felt a bit overpriced. The cleanliness left much to be desired; the grass was overgrown, there was visible dust in several spots, spider webs in the room, and the restaurant tables weren't cleaned properly. The bathrooms also suffered from poor lighting, making them quite dim. Despite informing the hotel about our arrival as scheduled, a bed for our driver wasn't prepared, leading us to pay extra for an additional room, which was quite disappointing. Overall, while the staff were genuinely nice and helpful, the venue requires improved maintenance, cleanliness, and coordination to warrant the cost.

    Disappointing stay with poor service

I had a terrible experience here. They are dishonest and overpriced! I booked a room because of a photoshopped image showcasing the Lion Rock view from the pool, which they have since taken down after I raised my concerns. When I arrived, they gave me the wrong room (I had reserved a triple room), and they didn't even bother to ask for my name. I tried to inform them about my reservation, but they just ignored me and took me to a different room. The cleanliness was lacking; there were finger and lip marks on a cup in the bathroom, and it had an unpleasant odor. The doors had gaps, making it easy to hear everything outside. Breakfast was inedible, forcing us to walk 25 minutes to find decent food, so don’t rely on that. There were no women working on the property, which gave it a lacking touch. When I expressed my issues at checkout, the front desk staff blamed me, saying it was 50% my fault. The person was rude and lacked customer service skills. I will never return or recommend this place. I will continue to leave negative reviews because this was the weirdest and most disappointing place I've ever stayed.

    Comfortable stay with friendly service

The room was quite spacious and featured a balcony. The mattress and bedding were cozy, and the shower had great hot water and pressure. However, the walls are pretty thin, so noise from neighboring rooms could be an issue. Breakfast was on the simpler side. The staff were welcoming and helpful, offering solid recommendations for local activities, and they spoke English well. The hotel is just a short walk from the center of Sigiriya. I definitely recommend checking out Predeep’s Restaurant nearby. One thing to keep in mind is that wild elephants wander the area after dark, so be cautious when walking at night.

    Clean and Comfortable Room

The room was spotless, cozy, and well-kept. The bed was comfortable, the air-conditioning operated flawlessly, and everything felt new. It had a soothing atmosphere, and there was ample space for two guests. We particularly enjoyed…

    Fantastic Jungle Retreat

I had an amazing experience here! The owner is incredibly friendly, and the rooms are fantastic—spacious and really nice. The pool is just perfect, and the hammocks are a lovely touch. The staff is very helpful and super friendly. The location is ideal, nestled in the jungle yet close to Lion Rock and the center. Don’t hesitate when searching for a place to stay!
