This place is filled with some of the most wonderful people in Sri Lanka, along with everything else that is exceptional—the flavors here are truly the best on the island. We highly recommend it!!!

We enjoyed three lovely days in Sigiriya, staying with this wonderful family. The location is peaceful, beautiful, and conveniently close to the main attractions. Chandrika and her two sons went out of their way to make us feel at home. We had dinner at their place every night, and the food was fantastic. They even arranged our transportation to Polonnaruwa one day. On the morning of our departure to Kandy, they assisted us with getting to the bus station. The cost of the accommodation and the services provided was very reasonable.

Look no further, you must book this place! There’s a reason it receives so many 5-star ratings. If you manage to secure a room here, consider yourself fortunate. This homestay and family are truly beautiful. They welcome you like one of their own during your stay, and the owner is incredibly kind and loving. The breakfast is fantastic, with daily variations and generous portions—you definitely won't leave hungry! Dinner is the highlight. For under £5, you’re treated to an extensive array of curries, dishes, and fruit; the quality is so high she could easily run her own restaurant. You can even message her via WhatsApp to arrange a family meal for dinner, even if you're not a current guest, and we eagerly anticipated this each day as it surpassed any restaurant meal. She also organized our taxis from Negombo to Ella, as well as cooking classes and safaris, all at better prices than we would have found on our own. She truly goes above and beyond. When my boyfriend suffered an injury and needed hospital care, her entire family rallied to help and took great care of him. I’ve never encountered such hospitality. We already miss her and her wonderful boys! Their homestay is just a short walk from the main attractions, yet it feels removed from the busy areas. It was really hard to leave. Don’t miss out on a stay that will make your trip to Sri Lanka unforgettable.

This is the best dining experience you can have in Sigiriya. For just 2000, you get an extensive variety of curries, both vegetarian and meat options, served with rice and fruit. It truly stands out as the finest meal we enjoyed during our time in Sri Lanka. Although it's a homestay, you can reserve a dinner spot by messaging Chandrika on WhatsApp ahead of time. The dining is family-style and surpasses what you'll find at restaurants—it's genuine home-cooked fare made with care. She's accommodating with dietary restrictions and even prepared gluten-free dishes for my girlfriend. She's amazing! If there's a vacancy, I highly suggest you book a stay with her as well. It's healthy and delicious!

I’m so thankful I got to stay at Sanu homestay, truly a highlight of my trip to Sri Lanka. Since there’s only one room, you get a special and quality experience with the family. The family is incredibly lovely, attentive, and welcoming; I felt right at home. Chandrika is doing an outstanding job as a host and mother - her sons are very well-mannered. They all made a deep impression on me 🤍 The location was ideal, situated on a quiet street and within walking distance to everything. The house and room were beautiful, spotlessly clean, and comfortable, with a well-kept garden. You can really tell that everything is done with care and love. And the food? Honestly, it was the best I had in Sri Lanka; Chandrika is a culinary genius. I would be her first customer if she ever offered cooking classes! I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with everyone and playing Carrom with Sanu. Thank you, Chandrika, Hashan, and Sanu; I hope to return one day!

My experience at Sanu Homestay was truly amazing. With just one room available, you receive a truly personal and high-quality experience. Chandrika is an outstanding host, her sons are extremely polite, and the whole family made us feel right at home. The house itself is beautiful, spotless, and situated on a tranquil street that is within easy walking distance to everything. The food was undoubtedly the best I had during my time in Sri Lanka—Chandrika also organized a fantastic elephant safari for us, which I highly recommend. You won't find better lodging in Sigiriya. The owner, Chandrika, is not only a lovely person but also an amazing cook—dinner is just 2,000 rupees for a delightful meal. The rooms are clean and fragrant, surrounded by a lovely garden. They even provide laundry services. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the bus station. As a solo traveler, I truly felt at home. It was one of my best experiences!
