I took a train trip with friends, and the location was perfect, just a short distance from Colombo. The hotel staff delivered exceptional service. We loved the boat ride through the mangroves; it was truly a unique experience. I can't wait to return again and again.

This is one of the top places to stay in Sri Lanka. I highly recommend it. The staff's behavior is outstanding, the rooms are roomy and spotless, and the breakfast area is exceptional.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely location, where the rooms were spacious and clean. We booked a deluxe room for two nights with breakfast included. The breakfast was tasty, and the overall food was good, although we found the mixed grill and fried beef to be disappointing. Thankfully, they offered a discount after we raised our concerns. The pool is very nice and offers a fantastic view of the river. Overall, I would rate this experience around 4.5 stars.

I recently enjoyed a stay at Nilwala, and it was a delightful experience. The hotel boasts some of the most stunning sunset views, making it an ideal spot to relax and watch the sun go down. The food at Nilwala is also a standout feature. The restaurant serves a range of tasty local and international dishes, all crafted with fresh ingredients. Speaking of the staff, they were extremely friendly and attentive. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well looked after. Whether it was helping with a request or just offering a warm smile, the staff truly went the extra mile to ensure we had a pleasant stay. A special thanks to Sunil Uncle, Kaveesha, Hasitha, Shasith, and everyone else for making us feel at home. Regarding the rooms, they were clean, spacious, and well-equipped. I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, and the room’s design contributed to the overall cozy atmosphere. In summary, Nilwala is a wonderful option for anyone seeking a tranquil retreat with breathtaking sunsets, delicious food, and outstanding service. I highly recommend it!

The rooms offered plenty of space, and the shower was quite nice. However, cleanliness was an issue, as there were hairs and spiderwebs present. The staff had limited English skills, making communication challenging, but they were very helpful and considerate. With very few other customers around, the atmosphere felt a bit lonely and deserted. They are currently undergoing renovations, so improvements may be on the way. We didn't get to try the pool since it closed at 20:00.

The hotel itself is gorgeous; the landscape is peaceful and beautifully kept 🌿🌸, and the rooms offer stunning views that make every morning feel special 🌅🏡. The food was outstanding — every meal was fresh and packed with flavor, honestly one of the highlights of our stay 🍽️🤤. A big thank you to Shehan and Oshani for adding that extra touch, and to the entire Hotel Nilwala team for their warm hospitality 🙌💫. The boat ride was also a memorable experience — so much fun and relaxing 🚤🌴🐊. Overall, it was a getaway filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories 💕.
