I’m pleased to say that this place has a fantastic location, friendly people, and delicious food and drinks. It's the best option in Beruwala and offers great value. For just $25 to $30, you can only find small home stays in the area, but this hotel is a fantastic deal and a wonderful place to stay. Once again, it's truly value for money in Beruwala.

Don't be fooled by the pictures. They were taken years ago, and now the place is in terrible shape. The rooms were not clean; the floor resembled a muddy field. The bathroom hasn't been updated and feels like an old, unkempt public restroom when you step inside. The odor in the room was unbearable. The management was unfriendly as well. We chose not to stay there due to the lack of cleanliness, and the owner even blamed us later, demanding money over the phone. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It was my worst hotel experience ever.

We visited the Sumadai hotel at the start of 2020, which was a wonderful time in my life. The hotel offers stunning views of the sea and looks out towards Beruwala lighthouse island. The staff were very helpful and kind, providing incredibly fast service with constant smiles.

In January 2016, we found the rooms to be somewhat dirty and the bathrooms outdated. However, the air conditioning, fan, and hot water worked well. The beach was fantastic and very private. We felt it was a great deal for the price, especially with breakfast included. The hotel offered stunning views from every angle and the staff were friendly. Plus, there’s a lovely dog that lives at the hotel.

This place has two standout features: a lovely sea view, provided you get a sea-view room, and good breakfast quality. Unfortunately, everything else falls short. There’s hardly any beach, minimal service, and the neighborhood lacks infrastructure like restaurants, cafes, grocery, and fruit stores. Additionally, the nearby lake is quite dirty. I would recommend avoiding this hotel.

Despite reading reviews that set lower expectations, we encountered several issues during our stay. None of the hotel staff spoke proper English, which led us to resolve many of our concerns with the help of a Russian-speaking hotel member.

My boyfriend and I stayed next door, so we decided to come here for coffee, followed by pizza for dinner. Each time, the staff were really friendly, and the pizza was quite delicious! During our meal, there was even a gentleman singing, which created a lovely atmosphere. It’s a great spot to grab a meal, especially with the tables by the river offering a lovely view :)

I'm unfortunately sharing my experience with this hotel. The staff was uncooperative, and nothing matched what was shown in the photos. It feels like the pictures were taken before the tsunami. The prices are too high for what you get, and cleanliness is lacking. The staff also lacks basic manners when speaking. Additionally, there is no wifi available, and it's quite far from the main road.
