Great staff and beach views

I absolutely enjoyed my time here; the staff was excellent. Our balcony offered a lovely view of the beach. I will certainly suggest this place to others.

Overbooked and Disappointed

We made a reservation and paid in advance, but when we arrived at night to check in, they informed us that the hotel was overbooked. With kids in tow, this was incredibly disappointing. It’s unacceptable to leave customers stranded at night! Although they managed to find us a room at a place with fewer amenities, we had no options. I was really let down. Additionally, there was no one at the reception when we walked in! I recommend confirming your booking multiple times before heading to the location on your check-in date.

Beautiful property with friendly staff

The stay was enjoyable; the property itself is stunning, and the pool is spotless and well-kept. The staff members are very friendly and genuinely nice. However, despite having a beachfront, it isn't very clean, as it's situated near an area where fishing boats dock, which brings an unpleasant smell.

Clean hotel with great hospitality

Great sea views and pool experience

The rooms offer a fantastic view of the ocean. It's located very near the sea, and I could hear the waves as I slept. I had a wonderful stay and also loved taking a swim in their pool.

Wonderful stay at Manara Beach Resort

During our time at Manara Beach Resort, we had a fantastic experience. Amal, the manager, along with the entire staff, were incredibly kind and attentive. They consistently checked on us to ensure our comfort and asked if we needed anything. Everyone served us with warm smiles. The food was delicious, and the staff were genuinely humble. I highly recommend this place.

Pool cleanliness was disappointing

We made a reservation for the weekend, but when we arrived, the pool appeared to have never been cleaned. It was so murky that we couldn't even see the bottom. The management explained that a large group had just used the pool and left, but that doesn't seem reasonable if it was cleaned on a regular basis. We decided to leave right away.

Warm hospitality and great experiences

We had a lovely experience at the resort. The Managing Director is a humble and friendly person, and Mr. Ameen, an enthusiastic facilitator, welcomed us when we arrived on March 12, 2026. They provided us with options for upgraded accommodation. As for the food, Chef Galeel was very warm and prepared breakfast and lunch just the way we wanted. On our second to last day, March 14, 2026, he even took me to a nearby fish market to choose fish according to our taste and cooked it perfectly. Mr. Ameen made an extra effort to arrange a special boat trip to a nearby lighthouse island, and he also ensured that Mr. Ameen, an Egyptian chef who is another friendly personality, joined us. I learned that the M.D., Dr. Ajwar, is a distinguished scholar recognized by the Sri Lankan government for his contributions to educational committees and services. Overall, it was a great experience. My wife loved our stay and the friendliness of the staff. If given the chance to return, I would choose Manara Beach Resort again and explore other places recommended by Dr. Ajwar on our last day over the phone, with Mr. Ameen's guidance. I wish them all the best and hope they continue their excellent service.

Lovely beach resort experience

We had a fantastic time at Manara Beach Resort in Bentota. The setting is truly stunning, just a short walk from a serene and clean beach, ideal for relaxation and unwinding. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring our comfort and needs were met. Their genuine hospitality really enhanced our stay. The rooms were roomy, tidy, and comfortable, equipped with all the essential amenities for an enjoyable visit. We particularly appreciated the peaceful and tranquil environment of the property. All in all, it’s an excellent choice for anyone seeking a peaceful beach retreat with authentic Sri Lankan hospitality. We would definitely love to return!
