We celebrated my mother’s birthday last night at Villa Hotel, and it turned out to be a memorable evening! The hotel provides stunning sea views that truly enhanced the celebration. The staff were incredibly friendly and delivered outstanding service from beginning to end. The food was tasty, featuring a great variety at very reasonable prices. Everything was well-coordinated, and the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. A big thank you to the team at Villa Hotel for making the night so special!

I chose this hotel for its proximity to the local airport, as I was flying to Colombo with Cinnamon Air. The hotel is situated by the waterfront, offering fantastic views of the harbor, and it looked appealing upon arrival. With an on-site restaurant, I enjoyed a reasonably priced and delicious dinner, complemented by friendly and very helpful staff. They arranged a tuk-tuk for my airport ride the next day, took care to prepare food that was chili-free due to my allergy, and quickly replaced the kettle when it caused a brief power outage in my room. Overall, it was quite a good deal for the price. However, there were some drawbacks. The absence of lifts and the presence of many steep, narrow stairs would pose a challenge for anyone with heavy luggage; I was fortunate to only have a rucksack. Upon arrival, I noticed a small temple across the street, which I initially found charming. Unfortunately, I did not realize that I had booked during a festival, leading to extremely loud music and celebrations that lasted all night. I wasn't informed about this in advance, and the hotel had minimal soundproofing. The staff mentioned receiving numerous complaints from other guests about the noise and their inability to sleep. Thankfully, I always travel with earplugs, which helped me get some rest. If you're considering a stay here, I recommend checking with the staff ahead of time regarding any festivals that might coincide with your visit.

This is likely the best budget accommodation I've found during my three weeks in Sri Lanka. The bed was comfortable and clean, and I had a fresh, soft white towel. There was a kettle in the room, and the bathroom had hot water along with shampoo and shower gel.
