    Great stay with excellent food

Sole Luna Resort & Spa is conveniently situated near the main road, making it easy to access all the major attractions, restaurants, and beaches in the area. The swimming pool was kept clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed both breakfast and lunch at the hotel, and the food was fantastic. The prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous. I would rate the food at their restaurant a perfect 10/10. The family room we reserved was clean, spacious, and included both air conditioning and a balcony. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive to our family’s needs. They were friendly, kind, and professional. A special shoutout to Mr. Manjula and his team for ensuring everything was taken care of. In summary, our time at Sole Luna was a pleasant and memorable experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for affordable accommodations that provide outstanding food, service, and comfort.

    Comfortable Stay with Friendly Service

I had a nice stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, offering a good sense of freedom and flexibility. The customer service was efficient, with friendly staff always available to help. The continental breakfast was well-prepared and offered a decent range to kick off the day. Although the hotel has all the essentials for a comfortable stay, it feels like a solid three-star experience without any luxury extras. In summary, it's a great option for travelers seeking affordability, convenience, and a friendly atmosphere.

    Spacious but needs improvements

The room was large, but that’s where the positives end. There was a strong eggy odor in the bathroom. With just one staff member on duty, it felt eerily like a deserted hotel. There were no towels provided in the room, so I had to request some. The air conditioning unit was quite old, noisy, and ineffective at cooling the space.

    Clean rooms but noisy environment

The rooms are clean and sufficient, featuring a proper bathroom and shower (thankfully not a wet room). It's nice that the staff are always around to assist, and the pool is a lovely addition. However, we did encounter some noise issues, either from other guests with screaming children at odd hours or from construction work nearby; we could hear everything, so we needed earplugs. Additionally, the large windows offering a view lack blackout curtains, meaning that when the sun rises, the room gets incredibly bright. The AC isn't very effective, so it tends to get quite warm (though still cooler than outside). The location is excellent for the nearby beach and very close to a local restaurant, but that's about it. It's a 25-minute walk into Tangalle, so we ended up dining at the local beach restaurant every night. Also, it seems there isn't a functioning bar at the hotel; the bar is filled with empty bottles, so we didn't bother to inquire.

    Disappointing Stay at Sole Luna

⭐ 1 star (only because 0 isn’t an option) My wife and I were enjoying a fantastic trip in Sri Lanka — that is, until we arrived at Sole Luna. From the beginning to the end, our stay was a complete disaster. Upon entering our room, it was evident that it hadn’t been cleaned or prepared properly. The trash can was dirty and unlined, and there was an empty beverage bottle on the floor. This was entirely unacceptable. After stepping out to the beach for a bit, we returned in the evening to find not one, but TWO cockroaches in the bathroom. To report this issue, I had to physically go downstairs because: • There was no phone in the room • There was no lift/elevator, despite this being labeled a 4-star hotel The staff at the front desk were rude and dismissive. Initially, they told my wife that all rooms were occupied and changing rooms wasn’t an option. It was only when I insisted on speaking to a manager that their tone changed, and we were offered a “better” room. However, the “better” room also left much to be desired. The trash can was again unlined, and the sink was missing a stopper. When I inquired about it, I was told, “Not possible.” What incredible service! Maybe that’s how the cockroaches are getting around. We had to move our bags ourselves while two staff members stood outside, watching us without offering any assistance. They seemed more annoyed that they had to “prepare” another room — though given the cleanliness standards, I’m not sure what preparation entails here. What shocked me the most was the utter lack of concern. No apology. No acknowledgment of the issues. Just indifference. This experience was extremely disappointing, particularly in Sri Lanka, where we’ve otherwise enjoyed warm, attentive service everywhere else. Sole Luna was the low point of our entire trip. Avoid.

    Charming hotel with great service

The hotel has an old-fashioned charm but is kept clean, and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly—truly no complaints there. The breakfast portions were quite large, and we suggest trying the restaurant across the street for some tasty meals right on the beach.

    Great stay with amazing views

My husband and I spent 6 nights here and had a wonderful time. The views of the ocean and the sunsets from our room were breathtaking, and the area was tranquil. Our room was spacious and included essentials like a fridge and toiletries. The service was exceptional; the staff were always ready to assist, whether it was providing water, quickly addressing a power issue with their generator, or cleaning our room upon request. The pool was well-maintained and ideal for swimming. We highly recommend this place, and we truly appreciated the friendly and warm nature of the staff. :)

    Great pool but lacking amenities

The pool area was wonderful—very clean and tranquil. The staff members were exceptionally friendly. However, I rated it four stars because there's no bar or drink service available by the pool, which is disappointing. We also faced an issue with hot water for two days; we informed reception, but it wasn't resolved. The water was warm enough to be refreshing, but it was still frustrating. The location is right on the beach, although it’s a bit far from town if you’re looking for a livelier atmosphere. Breakfast was delightful, with plenty of options and really tasty food! The staff were genuinely nice and welcoming. I found the rooms to be comfortable, but they felt a bit outdated and possibly a little overpriced.
