We truly enjoyed our stay at Solara Beach House. It's a small, family-run place with just a handful of rooms, which creates a wonderfully serene and private atmosphere. The location is delightful, with minimal hustle, and the staff is warm and genuinely eager to help. If you're in search of a quaint beach house rather than a high-end resort experience, this could be a great choice for you. Just a heads-up to manage expectations: the house has a more "lovingly aged" feel rather than being brand new. It's cozy and charming, but you'll notice its years here and there. The vibe is also not your typical hotel routine; it's more flexible and family-oriented. This can be great, but it does mean that clear communication is key for getting what you want (and sometimes you may need to remind them gently). At one point, we humorously dubbed it "today's episode of new reminder" — but if you stay relaxed, most requests can definitely be accommodated. A small tip: the manager might not always speak English depending on the shift, but communicating through Google Translate works surprisingly well, particularly for breakfast details and anything that requires a "check with Colombo" 😉. Shoutouts to some amazing team members: Prasad, the heart of the place, speaks great English, is super helpful, and ensures the room is spotless when he's around. Gagana brings positive energy and does her best to fulfill your food requests. Shehand is kind and attentive, though quieter, and always sweet while preparing delicious meals. Gihan is polite and eager to assist; just be clear about your spice preferences, as he tends to make things "spicy by default" 😄. In conclusion, if you're seeking a peaceful, warm, and authentic experience (along with a bit of patience and clear communication), we highly recommend it. However, if your idea of a perfect holiday relies on a flawlessly standardized hotel service, you might be better off at a larger, more organized property. For us, it was filled with heart and resulted in a genuinely pleasant stay. Sri Lanka-heart factor: YES <3. THANK YOU

My wife and I spent some time here, and we appreciated the late checkout until 1:30 PM. The location is good, and the beach is nice. However, I don’t think it was worth the price we paid given the service and facilities provided. For starters, the welcome drink was papaya juice, which was unexpected for a hot day, but unfortunately, it wasn’t cold and quite unpleasant to drink. Honestly, it might have been better if they hadn’t offered it at all. Cleanliness was a significant issue. I discovered lizard droppings on the bathroom floor and even in the shower area, which was quite disappointing. There was no bath mat at the bathroom entrance, causing water to spread everywhere after showering. Basic amenities like body wash or other toiletries were missing; only shampoo was available in the shower area. The towels were subpar and left lint all over my body and hair after using them. The room also lacked several expected facilities; there was no television, and while a kettle was provided, there was no proper plug point to use it. Additionally, there was no complimentary tea or coffee in the room. Privacy was another concern since the curtains didn’t close properly, allowing people outside to see directly into the bed, which made us uncomfortable. Furthermore, there was no room service telephone and no swimming pool. Given the absence of these basic amenities, I strongly believe the price is too high for what is offered. The property needs to either lower the prices or enhance the quality of service and at least provide essential amenities to justify the cost of the stay.

We enjoyed a wonderful time at Solara Beach House! The location is fantastic, with stunning sea views from the balcony and a lovely garden right on the beach for relaxing and socializing. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and feature a large balcony. The bathroom appears to have been recently renovated, offering a modern and tidy space. The restaurant serves authentic Sri Lankan cuisine prepared by the wonderful Chef Gagana, who clearly puts a lot of effort and care into his dishes! The staff were incredibly friendly, always greeting us with smiles. Shehan, in particular, made us feel very welcome by attending to our every need and organizing everything we could ask for during our stay. Overall, this place is beautiful, and the staff are equally delightful. It's definitely worth a visit!

Our time at Solana was fantastic, with a prime location just a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride from Hiriketiya. The stunning private beach and the convenience of surfboard rentals right on site were a real plus. I found staying here to be a more personalized experience compared to being in Hiriketiya itself. Chef Gagana and Shenan were both amazing and very accommodating throughout our visit!

This place is in a lovely quiet area, almost like having a private beach. We could easily grab surfboards whenever we wanted. It’s just a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride to the main strip in Hiriketeya. The staff were exceptionally attentive and assisted us with everything we needed. Our rooms were spotless and everything functioned perfectly. It's a very tranquil spot, and I highly recommend it.

What a lovely spot! The location is fantastic, and the rooms are clean, bright, and spacious. The staff truly went above and beyond to assist us. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating. A huge thank you to Gihan, Gargana, and Shehan for making our visit so enjoyable. The surf school team on the beach was also amazing. I'm excited to come back for a longer stay. Highly recommend!!!

I had a fantastic lunch at this place. The squid was the softest I’ve ever tasted. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. Thanks for having us, everyone. Great work! 🙏

We chose Solara as our base for a day of surfing. The staff were really friendly, and the beach access was fantastic. It was also a nice touch to have fresh water outdoor showers available after a salty swim.
