    Delicious food in a charming setting

    I had an amazing dining experience in Hikkaduwa, and without a doubt, Mom's Kitchen captured both my taste buds and my heart 😌❤️. The wait was a little lengthy, but it was completely worth it; the food was tasty, the portions were ample, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the ambiance was lovely, surrounded by nature and away from the city's hustle and bustle—a perfect combination. They also provide cooking classes, so if you want to enjoy fantastic food and learn to cook it at home, this is the place to visit. I will definitely return; I need more of that carrot salad with coconut, onion, and lemon 😋.

    Best Sri Lankan Meal Ever

    I give this place a 5/5! The food was home-cooked, delicious, and truly the best Sri Lankan meal I had during my 10-day culinary journey through the country. We devoured everything so quickly that I couldn't snap any photos! We ordered the rice and curry, which was the best I've ever tasted, and the kottu was absolutely mouthwatering. I highly, highly recommend this spot! Just a heads up: I've seen other reviewers mention this, so be sure to order in advance or be prepared to wait about 30-35 minutes for your meal. Our server made this clear right from the start! I can't wait to return!

    Authentic Sri Lankan Delight

    As a proud Sri Lankan, I must say it's a true delight to discover these treasures outside of Colombo. Honestly, their chicken and cheese kottu is among the best I've ever tasted. I can't wait to return and explore their other offerings. Everything is prepared fresh right on the spot, and it truly feels like a homemade meal. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who are genuinely kind and welcoming people.

    Delicious Dinner at Mom's Kitchen

    Just returned to the hotel after dinner at Mom's Kitchen and I had to change into my lounging pants because I'm so stuffed. The food was fantastic with generous portions. I ordered the chicken kottu, which turned out to be different from what I expected, but it was definitely tasty; I couldn't finish the whole plate, unfortunately. Our friend Glen chose the chicken curry with every side available. He really enjoyed it, and I sampled most of the sides as well and can confidently say they were delicious. The potatoes stood out as particularly good, and I also tried the okra, which was nicely spiced and full of flavor. Overall, this place offers great value for the money, and I would highly recommend checking them out. Also, they have Lion beer in cans for 1000 LKR, even though it's not on the menu. Go, try it, and enjoy!

    Fantastic Experience at Mom’s Kitchen

    We had the pleasure of visiting Mom’s Kitchen twice — first for a cooking class and then for dinner. The cooking class was not only fascinating but also a lot of fun. We spent nearly three hours cooking and got to savor everything we prepared afterwards. The entire family is incredibly warm and inviting. Two days later, we returned for dinner, and it was just as fantastic. I highly recommend it!

    Amazing Food and Cooking Class Experience

    We initially visited for dinner and noticed they offered a cooking class. After enjoying the vegetarian curry, we decided to enroll in the class the next day. It was a great experience, and to our delight, we prepared the same dish we adored the night before. They make every meal fresh right there, even preparing fresh coconut milk from scratch! Since attending the class, we've gained a deeper appreciation for their culinary efforts. We highly recommend this place for its excellent food, warm hospitality, and inviting atmosphere. It's a hidden gem away from the main road and truly a joy to visit. I wish we could go back for another lunch.

    The food and service here are absolutely fantastic! It's a charming family-run establishment. Having enjoyed curry every day in Sri Lanka, I can confidently say this place serves the best. During our week in Hikkaduwa, we dined here 5 or 6 times. They consistently go the extra mile for their customers, demonstrating their passion for what they do. 11/10

    Amazing Sri Lankan Cooking Class Experience

    This is undoubtedly the best Sri Lankan cooking class I've attended! In just two hours, I learned to make a fantastic prawn curry, dhal curry, pumpkin curry, crispy papadums, and their renowned potatoes. I left not only with all the recipes to replicate these delightful dishes at home but also with wonderful memories and lots of smiles. The owner was incredibly kind and patient, which made the entire experience feel relaxed, authentic, and a lot of fun. I can't recommend this class highly enough!

    Fantastic Family Cooking Experience

    One of our highlights during our two weeks in Sri Lanka was definitely the cooking class at Mom’s Kitchen. We had an amazing time as a family, immersing ourselves in the authentic experience of preparing real Sri Lankan cuisine. Both of our kids participated in the cooking, which made the experience even more memorable. Over the course of two hours, we learned to create a variety of delicious dishes including rice, dhal, beans, chicken curry, prawn curry, fried potatoes, poppadoms, and coconut sambal. The flavors and aromas were simply incredible. Mom and her daughter provided thorough explanations of each ingredient, the preparation techniques, cooking methods, and the stories behind every dish. This was a wonderful way to dive deeper into Sri Lankan culture and the traditions that accompany the food. The highlight was definitely sitting down at the end to enjoy the fantastic banquet we had prepared together. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and it felt even more rewarding knowing we had made it ourselves. Mom and her daughter were a wonderful team—very welcoming, friendly, and enthusiastic about sharing their culinary knowledge. We are so grateful for their teaching and for sharing their food, culture, and traditions with our family. This experience was a standout moment of our trip, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Hikkaduwa.

    Delicious Sri Lankan Cuisine Experience

    During our three-week trip, we enjoyed the best Sri Lankan food here! We both ordered the vegetable rice and curry, which was incredibly flavorful and paired perfectly with the fluffy white rice. The poppadums were delightfully crispy. The service was excellent and very friendly. We would certainly return. Additionally, the restrooms were exceptionally clean.
