Charming stay in Hatton bungalow

This lovely renovated bungalow is situated right in the heart of Hatton. It’s about a 1km stroll to the town center, where you can easily catch trains and buses. It's also a great base for exploring the nearby 'tea countryside' and attractions like Devon Falls and St. Clair’s Waterfalls towards Nuwara Eliya. The rooms are cozy, spacious, and wonderfully decorated! I really enjoyed the meals provided during our visit; both dinner and breakfast were substantial and tasty. I must also commend Mr. Chinthaka and Mr. Krishan (the owner) for their outstanding hospitality. They were extremely helpful and accommodating to all our needs.

Charming chalet with great service

This delightful little chalet is full of colonial charm and offers just three lovely guest rooms. Despite being close to the railway tracks, the noise is hardly noticeable since the rooms face the back. Enjoying breakfast on the veranda in the sunshine was a real treat. The staff and owner create a peaceful atmosphere, with a strong emphasis on service. The curry served in the evening was incredibly tasty. I highly recommend this place, making it a worthwhile stop in Hatton.

Friendly staff and homey vibe

The staff is incredibly helpful, and the owner is a genuinely nice guy. Breakfast was hearty and satisfying, while the rooms had a charming appeal. The sitting area and dining rooms gave off a cozy, home-like atmosphere.

Charming stay with fantastic food

We spent Christmas 2025 at Walauwa On The Hill and had a wonderful experience. The building is stunning, featuring a fully wooden interior and high ceilings in a classic British/Dutch style. It’s also known to be a historical site in Hatton. The rooms were pleasant, clean, with hot showers and ample space. Now, about the food—oh my goodness, the food! We tried Rice & Curry at many places in Sri Lanka, and this was undoubtedly the best. You could tell there was real care for the ingredients, tradition, and presentation. Lastly, we must mention our fantastic host, Chindhaka. He shared insights about the house, the town, and the food, and went above and beyond to meet all our needs. He was a genuinely lovely person, making our stay truly enjoyable. We highly recommend this place to anyone passing through Hatton.
