We appreciated the roomy setup, cozy bed, and reliable Wi-Fi. It was a nice touch to have a kettle for making coffee or tea, along with complimentary water bottles. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets offered a great variety and were quite satisfying. However, one significant drawback was the toilet flush, which was unreliable and often needed several tries to function properly.

I felt it necessary to share my experience from my recent visit to Thilanka. After staying at a fantastic 4-star hotel in Colombo, I was shocked that this hotel would even refer to itself as such. It was incredibly dirty. The sheets, towels, cushions, and furniture were all grimy, with a layer of grey dirt on every surface, including switches and walls. Charging so much per night for this is outrageous. Breakfast was quite disappointing as well. Some of the food clearly was stale and had an off smell. Both my companion and I experienced mild stomach issues during our stay (we only dined at the hotel). The only highlights were the stunning view and the pool, which are the sole reasons the hotel could claim any rating. Unfortunately, the pool staff were quite rude, acting as if it was a hassle to serve us drinks or sandwiches, and they mainly just watched us while we were in the pool. Overall, I feel thoroughly let down by this experience, and I typically don’t have high expectations.

We had an amazing wedding ceremony and honeymoon at this hotel. The wedding hall and accommodations were spotless, cozy, and well-kept, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating during our stay. The location was ideal—close to all my needs, yet tranquil and peaceful. The amenities were excellent and enhanced our experience. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful experience at Thilanka hotel. The infinity pool provided stunning views of the lake. The buffet offered a fantastic variety of food. Plus, it was really convenient to reach the city center. All the staff were delightful, especially the manager, Samantha, who went out of her way to assist us with our booking.

I've never given a one-star review before, but this hotel had bed bugs! Both my partner and I ended up with the classic bed bug rash. The room felt old and outdated, and the furniture was dirty. Overall, this hotel was a letdown. The highlight was definitely the stunning view. However, the bathroom had a strong unpleasant odor, and the Wi-Fi was spotty at best, forcing us to rely on our mobile data. The TV was also malfunctioning, and the food didn't come close to 4-star quality. Compared to the many other hotels we visited in Sri Lanka, this one was by far the least impressive. It has a lot of potential, but it seems like the focus is only on the pool and the view. I usually do my research before booking a hotel, but our driver convinced us to switch to this one, and we regretted it. As someone who has traveled a lot, I would have steered clear of this hotel based on reviews alone.

The hotel features a lovely infinity pool, and the buffet offered a good selection of dishes. The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. While the room appeared acceptable at first glance, the bathroom presented several problems. There was a noticeable sewage odor, cockroaches were spotted, and visible mold seemed to have been scraped off instead of properly addressed. It did not feel clean. Additionally, they attempted to mask the sewage smell with scented bags placed under the bathroom sink. In summary, the stay was decent due to the amenities and the attentive staff, but there is a clear need for improved bathroom cleanliness and maintenance.

The view is beautiful, and the beds are soft and comfy for a good night's sleep. My only issue was with the waiter at the restaurant, who repeatedly asked me, "Are you okay? Is everything good?" every couple of minutes. I ended up saying "yes, thank you" quite a few times…
