This is one of the finest restaurants I've visited in Sri Lanka. The seafood Kottu was outstanding, and I really enjoyed the coconut milk sauce; it was perfectly moist. The mango lassi was delicious, easily the best I had during my trip, and the lime juice was refreshingly abundant with lime. You absolutely have to check this place out!

It's tough to find a good, reasonably priced restaurant in this area, but we struck gold at The Trees. After enjoying a tasty Fried Rice and a Kottu dish on our first visit, we decided to preorder Veg Rice and Curry the following day, and it did not disappoint. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We might end up dining here every day.

We stopped here on our way back from Yala to Talalla after seeing the reviews. It’s a family-run place where the father and son take orders while the mother does the cooking. What a wonderful experience! The food was top-notch. All the curries and kottu were amazing, and the tomato chutney was fantastic. I loved it so much that I couldn't leave without asking for the recipe. If you're in the area, this is a must-visit.

This is hands down the best restaurant in Sri Lanka! We've tried numerous places along the west coast, but this one really blew me away. I was impressed by the presentation, the taste of the food, and even the bill—everything was just spot on. If you find yourself in Tangalle, you absolutely have to check it out. The food is unbelievably good!

I have to share this. As a chef who has traveled extensively and has a deep appreciation for local cuisine, I can confidently say this was the BEST KOTTU I've ever had in Sri Lanka. The curry served alongside the kottu was absolutely DELICIOUS. The kottu itself was bursting with flavor, and the chili was phenomenal. If you're a backpacker, traveler, foodie, or just on holiday, this place is a must-visit, and the price is simply unbeatable. The family was incredibly kind, even cooking my meal as takeaway during their New Year celebrations, for which I am extremely grateful. They are genuinely nice and friendly people; I didn’t have enough small change to pay, just large notes, yet they trusted me to return the next day to settle the bill. Truly amazing. Lots of love 🇮🇪🇱🇰

This restaurant is among the most affordable and flavorful dining options available. If you're craving curry and rice, be sure to place a pre-order—it's definitely worth it. I highly recommend this place.

The atmosphere here is stunning—definitely one of the most authentic restaurants I've encountered in Sri Lanka. There are plenty of friendly, playful cats around, and the space is quiet and roomy, making it an ideal spot for working. The staff are incredibly warm and kind, and the food is very delicious with generous portions, all at reasonable prices (between 500-2000 Rs per meal). We ordered Noodles with Chicken (around 900 Rs), and it was both tasty and served in a massive portion. A note for my next visit: I should consider ordering just one meal to share, as that will be more than enough.

I first visited this restaurant in 2018 and returned in 2026, eager to see how it had evolved. The memories from my initial visit were fantastic, and I'm happy to report that the food remains exceptional—it tastes like homemade, authentic cooking, and is without a doubt the best curry I've had during my time in Sri Lanka. While the restaurant has modernized and expanded, the essence of the kitchen has remained intact, which is truly remarkable. I hope to come back someday!
