    Exceptional Stay at The Sun House

    As I head back to South Africa, I can’t help but think about the memorable time we had at The Sun House. As someone who values interior design and the art of creating unique environments, I was truly impressed by the hotel’s rich and authentic aesthetic. It feels curated and full of character in a way that many newer hotels often overlook. Aside from the stunning decor, the staff truly elevated our experience. From the housekeeping crew who greeted us with smiles to the team that hosted our Arrack tasting dinner—going above and beyond by sharing images of the arrack-making process—every interaction felt personal and considerate. They even assisted in sending postcards to my family, which I greatly appreciated. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I highly recommend it!

    Charming stay at The Sun House

    My partner and I truly loved our time at the Sun House. Our room was spotless, featuring a spacious bed and a lovely bathroom. The hotel grounds are breathtaking; we appreciate how the owners have maintained the charm of this historic colonial building while incorporating cozy elements for a relaxing experience. Breakfast was delightful, prompting us to dine at The Gallean, the hotel's restaurant, one evening. With plenty of vegan options for my partner, all our meals and cocktails were excellent and fairly priced. Lastly, the staff at the Sun House were attentive, friendly, and welcoming, providing top-notch service. This was our favorite place to stay during our trip to Sri Lanka – a must-visit!

    Great family stay at the Sun House

    Our family had an amazing stay at the Sun House, and that includes four teenagers! The rooms were stunning, and we could spot monkeys from various windows. The staff was incredibly friendly; when we arrived at night in the rain, they welcomed us with umbrellas. Breakfast was delicious, offering both Western and Sri Lankan dishes. We also loved hanging out in the living room and playing cards at a lovely card table. I would definitely recommend this place!

    Wonderful stay with exceptional food

    Our stay at the Sun House was fantastic – we spent three nights there, and everything from the staff to the breakfast and overall experience was top-notch. We even broke our usual dining habits and had dinner there twice because the food was outstanding, and the courtyard garden is beautiful. The crab curry was truly a remarkable dish! I highly recommend this place.

    Charming stay near Galle

    We spent a night at The Sun House at the end of our trip to Sri Lanka, having discovered it through Gal Oya Lodge, another fantastic sister hotel we stayed in. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by friendly staff. Our room was beautifully adorned and featured a balcony with stunning views of lush greenery, where we enjoyed watching a family of purple-faced langur leap from tree to tree while sipping tea—it was truly captivating! We dined at the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, and both meals were delightful, clearly prepared with great care. On our check-out day, we had a late flight, but we were able to relax by the lovely pool and use the communal washroom to freshen up afterward, which we greatly appreciated. Every staff member was courteous and helpful; for instance, while we were sitting outside in the garden, they thoughtfully provided us with a mosquito repellant coil without us even asking. These thoughtful touches made our stay feel special. We recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore Galle, as it’s just a short walk from the vibrant Galle Fort while still being away from the crowds.

    Charming hotel with exceptional staff

    This hotel was a fantastic way to kick off our trip in Sri Lanka. It’s a quaint boutique hotel with just eight rooms, featuring a really laid-back pool area and surrounding space. The food was a solid 10/10, with a wonderful breakfast spread and an excellent dinner on our first night. The rooms were great, and the beds were comfortable. The true highlight was the staff – they were all very polite, friendly, and eager to assist with anything we needed. Special thanks to Priyatha, Ishan, and Roku, who really went above and beyond to take care of us during our stay. I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Galle, or even just stopping by for a meal.
