Charming character in a cozy stay

This charming old house has a lot of character. The room was nice, equipped with great air conditioning, though it had just been freshly painted. The hot water was hot, but the cold tap needed some repairs, which the owner promptly addressed.

    Delicious Lunch with Great Service

We enjoyed lunch at this spot, having the curry rice special and egg kotthu. Both dishes were generous in portion and tasty. The host was extremely friendly, and the service was excellent. The meals were quite affordable and freshly prepared. I highly recommend this place.

    Great location but humid interior

The room was right next to the garden, but there was a bit too much humidity inside. The owners were very nice and friendly. Overall, it’s a good deal for such a central location in the heart of the Fort.

    Charming stay in Galle Fort

A delightful spot in Galle Fort. The rooms are tidy and equipped with both air conditioning and a fan. The bed was comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were flavorful.

    Disappointing Room Booking Experience

I booked a room over the phone on March 7th at 5:30 PM and drove from Matara, arriving around 7:20 PM, only to find out the room was unavailable. They didn't even offer an apology. I was really taken aback by how these owners treat their guests. It seems they treat locals poorly, likely after realizing I was from the area. Local travelers should be cautious of these hoteliers; they might rely on locals during tough times but later treat you disrespectfully.

    Family-Owned Gem with Great Value

This family-run establishment serves up fantastic meals at a fair price. We dined here for dinner and returned for breakfast the next day, where they prepared hoppers for us, even though it wasn’t on the menu—we had pre-ordered after dinner. Kingsley, the manager and owner, along with his wife Asokha, the chef, and the waiter, were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. We truly appreciated the service provided and would happily recommend this place to our friends and family. It offers excellent value for money.

    Great location and friendly owners

This hotel on Lighthouse St is quite basic, but it boasts a fantastic spot for discovering the old fort area. The rooms may be simple, yet they are clean, and the owners are very kind. You can enjoy a generous breakfast on the charming terrace with a view of the…

Exceptional hospitality at Old Dutch House

Our stay at Old Dutch House was truly wonderful. We encountered some issues with our bikes, and Kingsley went the extra mile to assist us. He didn't just fix our bikes; he supported us in every possible way. He allowed us to leave our bikes securely overnight without needing to lock them up, which was a huge relief, and he even helped us plan our cycling route throughout Sri Lanka. Kingsley is attentive, thoughtful, and has a knack for mechanics. He genuinely cares about his guests and his stunning garden. Every interaction felt warm and personal. If you’re cycling through Sri Lanka or just in search of a welcoming place to stay, this is definitely the spot to choose. We can’t recommend it highly enough — it truly felt like a home away from home.
