    Exceptional Service at Government Hospital

I was pleasantly surprised by the service here! After having a negative experience at Kalubowila, my expectations for government hospitals were pretty low. However, this hospital really surpassed what I thought it would be like. The team in room 20 (Rabies Vaccination unit) was not only friendly but also knowledgeable and professional. Plus, the cleanliness of the hospital was impressive.

    Exceptional Care and Support

The doctors, nurses, and attendants here are truly helpful, remarkably caring, and incredibly supportive. They carry out their responsibilities with the highest level of integrity, but what struck me the most was their ability to give complete, undivided attention to every patient in their care. In such a busy hospital, you never feel like just another number; instead, you feel genuinely heard, appreciated, and deeply cared for. I can’t fully express my gratitude for the comfort and reassurance they offer. A big thank you to the entire healthcare team for your unwavering support, limitless patience, and kindness. We are so lucky to have such committed professionals. Thank you for your wonderful, selfless service!!!🙏

    Exceptional Care at National Hospital

The service at the National Hospital is outstanding when it comes to healthcare. Huge respect to the doctors, nurses, attendants, and all staff who consistently prioritize their patients. From the first examinations to surgeries and ongoing treatment, everything is done with great dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Before criticizing the healthcare system, I think we Sri Lankans should reflect on our own attitudes and behaviors. I have seen how hard the National Hospital team works to save lives, ensuring every patient receives equal care and attention. As a society, we ought to be more appreciative and supportive of their efforts, which can help ease their demanding work. We should always remember that having free healthcare is a privilege and a blessing for our nation. Before passing judgment or expressing negativity, take a moment to think about the sacrifices these healthcare professionals make daily. Many individuals cannot afford the steep costs of surgeries, scans, consultations, and other medical treatments. For them, the National Hospital offers hope, relief, and often a second chance at life. Before making critical remarks or broad judgments, it’s vital to consider the wider community and the numerous lives that rely on this service. For many, this hospital is a lifeline when all other options have been exhausted. It serves as a beacon of hope, providing care and support regardless of a person's financial situation. The value of such a service cannot be solely measured by its challenges or flaws. It should also be acknowledged for the lives it saves, the comfort it offers, and the chances it provides for people to heal and live with dignity. ❤️ The National Hospital is committed to doing its utmost, 24/7. Their dedication, commitment, and selfless service make a significant difference in our communities and to countless families nationwide. Forever thankful. ❤️

    Frustrating experience at local hospital

I had a highly disappointing visit to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. The communication was lacking, waiting times were long, and the maintenance issues added unnecessary stress for both patients and their families. As taxpayers, we expect a healthcare system that treats everyone with respect and dignity. Many staff members appeared to be overwhelmed, yet patients often received little to no information about procedures, delays, or what to expect next. Hours were spent just trying to find answers. The hospital serves a large number of people and truly needs better management, improved facilities, and a greater emphasis on patient care. While the doctors and medical professionals are working in a vital area, the overall patient experience falls short of what the public deserves.

    Service standards need improvement

I am very disappointed with the service at this hospital. I've been waiting in line for more than six hours without any attention. The hold-ups mainly stem from poor administration: patients ready for discharge are being kept unnecessarily because doctors left without signing the discharge papers, resulting in a block in ward availability. The level of professionalism and basic organization is unacceptable. Management must tackle these internal procedural delays right away, as they are greatly affecting patient care.
