Avoid this tourist trap at all costs
This place is a blatant scam. It seems to exist solely to take advantage of tourists. Guides bring you here just to earn a hefty commission. Prices are marked up by 150% — and even if you try to haggle vigorously, you’ll still end up overpaying. The “certificate” they provide? Just a worthless handwritten note, not a legitimate gem lab report. The gems they show you are of poor quality, knowing that you won’t be able to tell the difference. Don’t be deceived. Don’t spend your money here. Stay far away.

Great experience with gem shopping
In July 2025, we visited this store, guided by our tour leader to observe the mining, cutting, and polishing of gems. There was absolutely no pressure to make a purchase. We had the chance to browse, ask questions, and buy if we chose to. Ana Sally assisted us and was incredibly helpful in selecting our blue sapphire ring, moonstone, and star sapphire gems. After some bartering, we felt we secured a reasonable price, even managing to get 3 small sapphires for my husband to use in his lapidary class. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience from beginning to end.
