    Great beach spot for travelers

    This local beach restaurant is ideal for tourists. While it’s not a fine dining venue, it offers an affordable, clean setting with all the beach necessities, including showers, toilets, fresh water, food, and drinks. The food is completely safe to eat and tastes fantastic. There’s no better spot to relax with drinks by the beach, or you can leave your bags with the staff while you take a dip in the ocean or stroll along the strip. The manager or owner, who has a big Afro, is very welcoming to foreigners. My partner and I are frequent travelers; we live in the U.K. — she’s from Cornwall and I’m from Southeast Asia. We’re always on the lookout for great food and photo opportunities. The golden beach at Lavinia might not seem like much, but believe us, it has everything you need for a perfect beach day.

    Exceptional food and service experience

    I discovered this spot through Google Maps and the food truly stands out! The portion sizes are generous, the flavors are outstanding, and the service is quite good. Every area of the restaurant is neat and tidy; I especially want to highlight how clean the restrooms were. There’s parking available on the vacant land across the railway line. Upon entering, you’re greeted with a stylish view and a unique atmosphere. There’s ample seating under the coconut leaf cover as well as in the beach area. Although there's just one waiter, he is very helpful and respectful. I really appreciate the effort that goes into delivering high-quality food, especially these days when options are limited. I highly recommend this place, particularly for couples looking for a romantic dinner or for families and friends to gather. I sincerely hope they maintain their excellent customer service and the quality of their food.

    Beautiful beach but poor service

    You can enjoy sitting on the beach while watching the waves roll in. Sadly, the service left much to be desired, as both items from my order came out wrong. The rice dish lacked flavor, and I wouldn't suggest this restaurant to anyone else.

    Lackluster salad experience

    I was really let down. The salad was bland, merely tasting of pepper and salt, without any genuine flavor. It was overly spicy and incredibly overpriced for such low quality. Definitely not worth the cost.

    Must-Try Golden Batter Fried Prawn

    The top dish on the menu is definitely the golden batter fried prawn. They use a special seasoning that’s both unique and addictive. Once you try it, you’re sure to keep returning for more, I promise :) I took the time to write this review so that more people can enjoy this incredible treat 😘

    Fantastic beachfront dining experience!

    What a fantastic dining experience by the beach! The food was scrumptious, the portions were extremely generous, and the prices were quite reasonable considering the quality and amount you get. Each dish was fresh and bursting with flavor. The service was exceptional—Kasun was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Eating right next to the beach with those stunning ocean views enhanced the experience further. If you’re in search of a spot that serves great food at affordable prices, with large portions and outstanding service, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. We will certainly be returning!

    Wonderful Dinner Experience

    We visited this lovely restaurant for dinner, and it turned out to be a serene spot to enjoy a meal. The food was fantastic, and the service was very friendly. Even though there was a private party with a buffet happening, they assured us we could still order from the regular menu. Since all the currency exchange places were closed, we only had British pounds, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and understanding about it! Thank you for a delightful first evening here.

    The location of Golden Beach Lavinia is right by the beach, which really enhances the experience. The vibe at night is vibrant, featuring a bustling bar atmosphere with football streaming, which adds to the enjoyment. It’s a perfect place to unwind and have a fun evening by the beach. That said, the service could use some work, as it was a little slow and not very consistent. Overall, it’s a fantastic option for a laid-back night out with friends, especially thanks to the beachside setting. 🌊🍻

    Disappointing seafood experience

    I had a very disappointing experience here due to both the service and the food. From the beginning, the service was lacking. I ordered the devilled prawns, anticipating a fresh seafood meal, but what I got were prawns that were completely dry. It’s baffling that a seafood restaurant in Sri Lanka, a country surrounded by fresh seafood, would serve such dry and unsatisfactory prawns. The food fell far short of my expectations, and the subpar service only made matters worse. I definitely don’t think it was worth the money, and I wouldn’t recommend this place based on what I experienced.

    Exceptional Service and Amazing Cuisine

    Every visit to this restaurant introduces us to a new and delightful cuisine. We genuinely adore the food here. What stands out the most is the attentive service — a refreshing change from places that rush you and make you feel pressured to leave quickly. I recall one occasion when we tried to gather with friends, but the restaurant was fully booked for a birthday party, leaving us without a table. However, when we returned the following day, Mr. Ganeshan came out personally to greet us and apologized for the inconvenience the night before. What impressed us even further was his thoughtful gesture of providing us with chopsticks, knowing we were Chinese — a level of consideration we haven't encountered at other restaurants. We are truly grateful for such sincere and attentive service. The food is simply delicious, and the quality is top-notch. We highly recommend this place!
