    Great Stay with Some Concerns

    We had a wonderful one-night experience here, and there’s plenty to appreciate! **The Highlights** The sea view room was fantastic. Seriously, the bed was spotless and incredibly comfortable, and the entire space was immaculate. The location couldn’t be better—it’s absolutely ideal. Additionally, the staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. A big mention goes to the breakfast as well; it was truly delicious! **The Issues to Address** While we enjoyed our stay overall, there were a few significant issues that future guests should be aware of: 1. **Locked In:** Around 10:30 PM, the staff left for the night, locked the main doors, and left us alone in the house. This was quite concerning because we couldn’t leave for any emergencies until morning. Guests need 24-hour access. 2. **No Hot Water:** The hot water was a letdown. After one shower, it ran out, leaving us with ice-cold water. They explained they forgot to turn the system on since they hadn’t had guests recently. That definitely needs to be fixed before new guests arrive. 3. **Privacy Concern:** We spotted a CCTV camera on the balcony. While security is important, having a camera aimed at a private area like a balcony feels like a substantial invasion of privacy. It should either be moved or disclosed to guests beforehand. 4. **Slow WiFi:** The WiFi was nearly unusable—it was so slow that we ended up using our phone data instead. **Final Thoughts:** This place has a superb base with a fantastic location, clean rooms, and outstanding breakfast. If they address the safety/access issue, the hot water problem, and the balcony camera, we would gladly stay here again!

    Charming Stay in Galle Fort

    Ditch Boutique Villa is situated right in the center of Galle Fort. The rooms are quite cozy and offer beautiful sea views. The traditional Sri Lankan breakfast served is simply gorgeous. The staff is genuinely friendly and has always been very helpful. I highly recommend this place.

    Our experience at Dutch Wall Fort Villa was wonderful, situated right at the fort’s edge with stunning ocean views.     If you've shopped for jewelry in Galle, you're likely familiar with the inflated prices, constant haggling, and the uncomfortable pressure to make a purchase. We stumbled upon this small shop, and it was a refreshing change. The owner is a jeweler who genuinely enjoys his craft, rather than prioritizing sales, and that’s immediately apparent. All prices are fixed, fair, and transparent, so there’s no need for bargaining or games. He is incredibly kind and patient, taking the time to explain everything without any pressure. The shop features beautiful, tasteful pieces, and the owner has such a calm, charismatic demeanor. I ended up purchasing three rings, and it was truly the best jewelry shopping experience I've had in Sri Lanka. If you're weary of aggressive sales tactics and seek a genuine, relaxed experience with a wonderful person, this is the place for you. I highly recommend it.

    Charming stay at Dutch Wall

    Galle Fort is a true gem, with many of its praises well-deserved. Among its highlights, Dutch Wall really shines. Situated at the breezy ocean end of Church Street for 300 years, this beautifully restored place features a charming entrance that leads to a surprisingly spacious and cool interior. After climbing two flights of teak stairs, I found my room, which boasted a stunning four-poster bed, a desk, plush carpets, a large bathroom, and a view of the ocean. Hasan and his family provided a warm welcome and delivered exceptional service, along with a fantastic breakfast spread. Being locals, they were a treasure trove of insider tips and assistance. I truly didn’t want to leave. This is a serene retreat in Galle that I wholeheartedly recommend.

    Galle Fort is packed with must-visit locations, but Dutch Wall truly stands out. Situated at the end of Church Street, its entrance may be subtle, yet the interior is impressively spacious. What made my stay memorable: I stayed in a room up two flights of beautiful teak stairs, featuring a very comfortable four-poster bed and a lovely view of the ocean. This family-run establishment offers exceptional hospitality. They are deeply connected to the area and provide a wealth of insider tips and recommendations. The service is outstanding, exuding a personal and friendly touch. Don’t miss out on breakfast—it’s a delightful array and the perfect way to kick off your day. Being in the heart of the historic Fort, you can expect to hear the morning call to prayer from the nearby mosque. It's part of the local vibe, but if you're a light sleeper, you might want to keep that in mind! They also arranged our airport cab in a timely manner. Overall, my stay was very satisfying—I genuinely didn’t want to leave. If you’re looking for a serene, picturesque getaway with character, this is the place to be.
